Doesn't sound logical. It seems that the drug is being push for profit without concern for the patient.

According to a study recently published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, over the last 30 years, first-trimester use of prescription medication increased by more than 60 percent, and use of four or more medications more than tripled.

Most troubling, the study found that 80 percent of all pregnant women in the U.S. reported taking at least one prescription or over-the-counter medication during the first trimester, when the unborn child is most at risk for birth defects.

As a result of the study, researchers concluded that greater attention needs to be paid to the effects of drugs with respect to fetal risks and safety. We couldnÂ’t agree more.

I've been on Effexor from http://goo.gl/PJZwMF only one week but am cautiously very optimistic. Prior to this I was on citalopram but still feeling very low and sleeping poorly, feeling like I needed to be in bed 12-16 hours a day. Now I am waking naturally after only 8 hours sleep and finding it much easier to concentrate at work. I can hardly believe it is working so quickly but I feel so much better. I've had no side effects.
