Hopelessness lingers even though medication improves depression

There are 11 comments on the AndhraNews story from Feb 19, 2008, titled Hopelessness lingers even though medication improves depression. In it, AndhraNews reports that:

“The finding suggests that some patients may become unduly pessimistic and stop adhering to an already-helpful therapy”

People taking antidepressants for fighting the blues typically see a lot of improvements in their symptoms, one area that lags behind in this is a sense of hopefulness, says a new study. via AndhraNews

I have been taking Zoloft for PMDD, but I do find hope in having a relationship with Jesus and reading the Bible.

You may consider that antidepressants not the best treatment for depression, consult your doctor for a safer alternative. Antidepressants like Zoloft may cause serious side effects including suicide, sexual dysfunction, and birth defects. You may refer to this webpage http://www.zoloftsertralinebirthdefects.com/ for more a more detailed discussion about your concern.

There may be instances that people who are taking drugs like Paxil for a long time may not respond to it anymore or may have severe side effects. Antidepressants are definitely nor the only answer to depression and you get to know more about antidepressants at www.paxilbirthdefectlaw.com/paxil-ssri-antide... . A great support group can also be a reason for someone to overcome their depression.

Medication isn't a cure.

Medication has caused me far more problems than helped. It has never stopped relapse nor fixed much of anything and worse of all is the withdrawals. I am 86 days into a hell withdrawal from prozac after a decade of use.

I, too have been damaged from using prozac. Have been off it now for 19 months and have a number of neurological problems. If I had been offered therapy and or support during my difficult time before the drugs I would have probably been 'better' years ago. As it goes, I may have up to seven years to 'repair'.

Medications like antidepressants are only supplements for therapies in the battle against depression. A good therapist coupled with a firm support plus medications would surely end depression. Using antidepressants like Paxil alone may the user side effects and also create dependency on the drug. The FDA has even issued warnings in using Paxil. There are article about it which can be seen at http://www.paxilbirthdefectlaw.com/paxil-fda-... .

Naturally, I am skeptical of everything online. http://inhousegeneric.com is legitimate. I placed my first order for the smallest amount possible. It arrived sooner than expected. I didn't pay the extra money for speedy air mail. I placed another order that was much larger and it came right on time. I will definitely use this company again for even larger orders now that I trust them. They also give you discounts every time you place an order which is cool. One thing to keep in mind is if you place a larger order, they will send half in one shipment, and then the other half after that to avoid customs scrutinizing your package. I am very happy, I no longer need to pay tons of money to see a doctor and therapist (and have them tell me a bunch of stuff I already know) in order to get my medication.

I've been on Effexor from http://goo.gl/DmlKns only one week but am cautiously very optimistic. Prior to this I was on citalopram but still feeling very low and sleeping poorly, feeling like I needed to be in bed 12-16 hours a day. Now I am waking naturally after only 8 hours sleep and finding it much easier to concentrate at work. I can hardly believe it is working so quickly but I feel so much better. I've had no side effects.
