The New Discovery Dental Lab is nothing but a scam and the state of California should investigate this scam artist working supposedly from his office which is actually his home. There is no one who can make a set of dentures through the USPS without a dental assistant or technician being in person to adjust or fit. Please BEWARE.
Could you please reply to me? My wife has a job offer from them.

I would advise your wife to proceed with caution regarding her job offer. I also inquired about working for New Discovery Denture Lab and thought it seemed sketchy. So I began e-mailing the person (which I believe is the owner of the company as the e-mail is Willisism) and asking some questions such as who would be responsible if a patient is not happy with their dentures... or if say a tooth came out during an impression who would be held responsible for that? an actual dental office is required to hold 'malpractice' insurance to cover if things like that happen... and after spending 5 years as an assistant I wasn't sure how this could be legal and I was not comfortable taking an impression without having a dentist advise me to do so.... a dentist who had actually looked in this patients mouth atleast.. of course as I continued e-mailing these questions I stopped getting replies.. this made my decision to not become involved with this company. I could not live with myself feeling like I ripped these patients off who just want dentures they can wear and use to eat. Reading these posts also helped my decision as most are negative. My other concern is that as I amd not a Certified Dental assistant I do hold a state radiology license which I worked hard for, and I didnt want to risk the possibility of losing that if any legal matters were to come of this. I know the $ sounds great and the fact you can work around your own schedule, I just felt that things with this company didn't seem right especially after the responses ended when I was inquiring about responsibilities.

That's just my experience and opinion... I hope it helps.

Good for you. There was an EXTENSIVE thread dedicated to this company that was deleted, I'm sure, because of the controversy. And not very positive. My advice would be to CHECK OUT THIS COMPANY WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. Also, do some background web research for referrals. I can't help but wonder how, if $$ is so hard to get ahold of for dentures, that someone would just hand over their money to a stranger before they checked the place out. Especially if it's the only money they have.
If I saw so many negative reviews on a company I know I would look further ...

If New Discovery was sooo good and sooo moral why did they close shop - shut down their site and leave town with money from well over a dozen customers? Why was he last seen selling his clothes and his car on ebay? Why are there over a dozen complaints on the BBB? Carl was and is a fraud and has done nothing but move on to the next scam which I believe is now a full time handyman service. Those who get on these forums and claim that he was the best or that the dentures fit out of the box are doing nothing but perpetrating this fraud. They're lying through their cheap false teeth - don't believe it and hide if you ever see a service like New Discovery appear online. Chances are Carl will hide his information as best as possible so no one can track him but there are a ton trying.

You're probably the type of person who wants a Rolls Royce for the price of a VW. I have had nothing but great luck with this firm. Sorry to see them go.

I just inquired a job by New Discovery Denture Lab. I'm slow to respond because it just seems weird to me that you can take impressions and have dentures made without a Dentist fitting them... Does this really work? and sucessfully at that?

Nick: Good for you. But I think you are in the minority. I am surprised that you are following this thread, most satisfied customers have moved on. I don't think they are even in business anymore ... don't you wonder why?
P.S. Thrilled that you had such great luck - and me too ... I would love a RR for any price ... if I could afford one.

I purchased upper dentures from New Discovery Denture Labs four years ago to replace one that I have worn for over 30 years. I am a satisfied customer that feels that I got a great deal. The quality was better than my original and fit better than the original. I suspect that many individuals simply cannot make their own impressions and I know that dentists don't like losing the income. All I can say is that I received them when promised and the product was better than I expected at a price that was 70% below the norm.

in 2010, the co. known and New Discovery Dentures had to declare bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is a federal law that protects a business from catastrophic loss with no ability to recover financially. Some people dont understand the law in such matters. This loss was due largely to the failure of the economy and a drop off in sales that made it impossible to continue without raising our prices considerably. Our lab had been in business for over 25 years. We WERE accredited members of the BBB unlike the lies told by Shawn Bushway. We had a AAA rating with the BBB.. Bushway claimed that I operated the business from home and my wife answered the phone.. I am not married and havent been since 2002. Some people have published a lot of untrue statements about me and by business..You cant stop people from lying about you. Especially on this Mickey Mouse platform called TOPIX. TOPIX IS A JOKE !!!
I have made refunds to many people who had legitimate complaints.altho I was not req by law to do so following the bankruptcy. There will be no further refunds.
