Hello,
I'm 19 years old and was just diagnosed with Crohn's disease. I'm about to graduate from College and will therefore no longer be covered on my parents health insurance. Being a Crohn's patient, is there anyway to obtain health insurance when I graduate? Whether through an employer or privately?

Lastly
Does, Obama's National Healthcare System plan to cover those of us with Crohn's?

Thank you,
Kate

Hello
Does anyone know if now Crohn's patients can get health care coverage, since the health care reform bill has passed--now can people with ore-existing conditions not be denied? If so does anyone have knowledge on this subject?
Thanks ,
Kate

Leslie, were you able to find insurance for your husband? I'm in the same boat now with my COBRA running out.

My 22 yo daughter was diagnosed with Crohn's last Jan. Had surgery to remove approx. one third of her lower intestine. She already had ins with First Health and thay paid their max of $75,000. That was a student ins. policy. She has graduated and now looking for ins. i talked to a Jeff Newman with Secured Health and Life and says he has an Open access PPO through Starr Indemnity. It is supposed to cover Crohn's patients. His Number is 1-877-399-0292 ext. 315. From what he has told me it sounds great. I am in the process of getting a policy now. We will see. My daughter takes Sulfasalazine And Mercaptopurine. Has been controlled well so far. Maybe this will help some of you. I pray for you all, I know what you are going through. We were told she had iron deficient anemia then it was her gall bladder then finally got told crohn's. Her surgery was succesfull and meds are doing good. KNOCK ON WOOD. Bless you all that have this.

Hi, I'm 25 was was only diagnosed with Crohn's last August. I spent 3 days over the Christmas holiday in the hospital, not because of the Crohn's but because I was allergic to the crohn's medications that my doctor kept insisting I take even though I told him that they made me throw up blood.(azathiaprine and mecaptapurine gave me pancreatitis). Since then, a change in diet and a less stressful job have pretty much cleared the problem up without any medication or complications. I am wondering if they immediately will count you out if you have crohn's or if they will take into account the severity of it. It was only a fluke that we even discovered I had the crohn's in the first place. I had never had a big problem with it. I haven't seen a doctor for the condition for over 5 months. Right now I have insurance through a crappy employer and am looking to venture out on my own but I would prefer not to be without insurance since I have horrible luck and I just know that it would end in disaster for me. Any information anyone has would be really helpful
