Hey, anyone that has any info or encouraging words for me. I have been diagnosed with Crohn's for the last two years and am lucky enough to be getting off the steriods. However, I have been diagnosed with HPV recently and was told that I won't be able to get rid of it from my body due to my immuno suppressants and I need to get off them too. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can manage both. Thanks

Hello-
I can't offer much help - but I'm in a similar situation. I've had Crohns for over 12 years. I've been off all meds since July '05 and doing well. I'd recommend acupuncture - it helps boost your immune system. However, I was diagnosed with HPV last year and it didn't clear up on its own. I had laser surgery three months ago and just went for my follow-up pap - it came back ascus. That means there's still atypical cells. My husband and I want to try and have a baby - that's why I ended all my Crohns treatment. Stay well and eat right.(I haven't been going to acupunture b/c we recently moved - I think that's the key to a strong immune system for us.) Good luck.

I know this is an old post.... but I was wondering if either of you had made any progress with your HPV treatments? I too have HPV and crohns. All of the HPV treatments cause gastrointestinal doom for me.

I also have HPV and Crohns. It seems treatment of Crohns exacerbates the HPV and I'm not sure if I should treat the HPV with a procedure. They say the procedures can exacerbate the crohns and also mess with fertility. It's extremely confusing, I wish there was some information out there on what to do.

I have a type of HPV that comes with those lovely wart-things. I went through Aldara treatment, which made me flare immediately! Man that sucked. Then I tried that Wartrol stuff on the internet... yeah - that didn't work either, but at least it didn't make me sick... it worked for my husband right away. I finally found some obscure reference to apple cider vinegar... and well - it fricken works! I bought raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar, put some on a cotton ball, and taped it with paper tape to the warts. Overnight they turned black, within a couple days they were falling off. I'm still in the process, but it keeps killing the little buggers, and the cider is only a couple dollars a bottle. Worth a try!

Hi, I also have Crohn's. I don't have HPV... yet. I'm a little worried about it. I'm from the UK, i've met a girlfriend via Facebook and over half a year we have fallen in love, i'm going to see her soon, but she revealed months ago to me that she has HPV (by some idiot who never told her he had it). We are so in love but cannot go without sex, for sure. I'm on the Azathioprine drug and that is great for me, no flare-ups or anything. But it does say in the leaflet that comes with the drug not to have unprotected sex. Trouble is I can't get used to condoms at all, they ... turn me off basically. So what's gonna happen if i have unprotected sex? I presume i'm definitely going to get HPV, is it going to be much worse for me because I have Crohn's? Am i highly likely to get warts then? Help!

gardasil. preventive. take well before, and follow all precautions indicated by physician and the medication. it only works if you do not already have hpv. read up on it.

I thought that once you contracted HPV, you always carry it. Whether the bumps start showing up or not, you always carry it. The bumps can clear up, with an exceptionally strong immune system. They may come back if the immune system is weakened. I really like this girl, but she has Chrohn's, and she says it would be a death sentence to sleep with me because of my HPV. I've also read that condoms don't help. I need some hope.

Hey Cas,
I was diagnosed with Chron's in 2006. I was recently introduced to Olive Leaf Extract. You take two droppersful one to two times daily. It kills off all parasites, bacteria strains, etc. Do your research on it. It should help your condition tremendously. Take care!

Use Aldara sparingly to treat HPV. It will blister, but it will clear all warts within weeks. 1 sachet of aldara (traditionally used to treat skin cancer) can treat 1 square meter of skin. It directs your whole immune system to the applied area to removed abnormal cells (wart or cancerous).

If you have crohns with HPV, get off steriods. Use DIET to cure crohn autoimmune. See a dietition who will help you do this.

By diet I mean a food diet high in calories (to counter effects of malabsorbtion) which includes foods such as beetroot, lean meat, green veges, to let your gut repair itself. Avoid sugar, as this puts strain on your lyphatic (immune) system.

I have HPV and out of cowardness I did not tell my boyfriend. In the heat of the moment our first time happened and it was then too late. He has Crohn's to make things worse. we have been dating for a little over a year now and he just started showing warts. I have not had any this whole time. I have no idea how to tell him. Any suggestions that dont include bad words or judgement?

Have you considered trying all-natural supplements to relieve the pain from Crohn's? My friend was diagnosed with the disease and is almost symptoms-free thanks to AloeElite. You may find some information you're looking for: http://www.aloeelite.com/

Unfortunately, I too, have Crohn's disease and HPV. I have had 2 colposcopies and after 4.5 years of normal pap smears, my pap just came back abnormal again. I will start off by saying that STRESS will always exasperate symptoms of autoimmune diseases. It can be very depressing to be a young adult with such issues that have the potential of debilitating everyday life. I will agree with the comments that homeopathic remedies, diet, as well as natural supplements are all very helpful ways to keep the immune system functioning properly. As I often have to remind myself, be positive and remember that attitude is everything!

Hi everyone,
I am a student journalist from Sydney writing an article on people living with Crohn's disease and HPV. I'm writing in light of a recent study which suggested regular screening and vaccination for HPV should be encouraged amongst people living with Crohn's disease.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in being a case study? It would pretty much just involve answering a few short questions over email. I think this is an important issue that should be addressed, as many of you have indicated there is a severe lack of information for people treating both Crohn's and HPV.

Many thanks! Get back to me as soon as possible!

I didn't know I had Crohn's until I had a horrible flare following the LEEP procedure for cervical dysplasia due to HPV. Since that flare I have had 2 surgeries for a rectovaginal fistula. Now it's time for another pap to see how things are on the cervical side. It's been an exhausting journey. Just wondering if anyone has had some successful combination of treatment and how helpful would coordination be between gastro-colorectal surgeon-GYN? I am pretty well controlled with Lialda for now though it's definitely not considered remission. I'm worried that further treatment for HPV will cause more Crohn's issues :/

Has anyone had HPV with symptoms of Crohn's disease? It is not well known yet but my OBGYN doc tells me a person is just is likely to contract HPV of the mouth via oral sex as is to contract genital HPV via anal or vaginal sex. I don't know if the red throat, with not red or swollen tonsils, swollen throat, pain in jaw, trouble swallowing, pain in stomach sometimes, constipation, and occasional blood in stool is is HPV or Crohns, or neither. Many of these symptoms are of both. Someone who had sex with the same man has been diagnosed with HPV of the cervix. The precancerous kind. I've also read that one person can infect multiple people with different strains of the HPV virus. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks for the help.
