Hey, anyone that has any info or encouraging words for me. I have been diagnosed with Crohn's for the last two years and am lucky enough to be getting off the steriods. However, I have been diagnosed with HPV recently and was told that I won't be able to get rid of it from my body due to my immuno suppressants and I need to get off them too. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can manage both. Thanks

Hello-
I can't offer much help - but I'm in a similar situation. I've had Crohns for over 12 years. I've been off all meds since July '05 and doing well. I'd recommend acupuncture - it helps boost your immune system. However, I was diagnosed with HPV last year and it didn't clear up on its own. I had laser surgery three months ago and just went for my follow-up pap - it came back ascus. That means there's still atypical cells. My husband and I want to try and have a baby - that's why I ended all my Crohns treatment. Stay well and eat right.(I haven't been going to acupunture b/c we recently moved - I think that's the key to a strong immune system for us.) Good luck.

I know this is an old post.... but I was wondering if either of you had made any progress with your HPV treatments? I too have HPV and crohns. All of the HPV treatments cause gastrointestinal doom for me.

I also have HPV and Crohns. It seems treatment of Crohns exacerbates the HPV and I'm not sure if I should treat the HPV with a procedure. They say the procedures can exacerbate the crohns and also mess with fertility. It's extremely confusing, I wish there was some information out there on what to do.

I have a type of HPV that comes with those lovely wart-things. I went through Aldara treatment, which made me flare immediately! Man that sucked. Then I tried that Wartrol stuff on the internet... yeah - that didn't work either, but at least it didn't make me sick... it worked for my husband right away. I finally found some obscure reference to apple cider vinegar... and well - it fricken works! I bought raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar, put some on a cotton ball, and taped it with paper tape to the warts. Overnight they turned black, within a couple days they were falling off. I'm still in the process, but it keeps killing the little buggers, and the cider is only a couple dollars a bottle. Worth a try!

Hi, I also have Crohn's. I don't have HPV... yet. I'm a little worried about it. I'm from the UK, i've met a girlfriend via Facebook and over half a year we have fallen in love, i'm going to see her soon, but she revealed months ago to me that she has HPV (by some idiot who never told her he had it). We are so in love but cannot go without sex, for sure. I'm on the Azathioprine drug and that is great for me, no flare-ups or anything. But it does say in the leaflet that comes with the drug not to have unprotected sex. Trouble is I can't get used to condoms at all, they ... turn me off basically. So what's gonna happen if i have unprotected sex? I presume i'm definitely going to get HPV, is it going to be much worse for me because I have Crohn's? Am i highly likely to get warts then? Help!

gardasil. preventive. take well before, and follow all precautions indicated by physician and the medication. it only works if you do not already have hpv. read up on it.

patientspiders:
I thought that once you contracted HPV, you always carry it. Whether the bumps start showing up or not, you always carry it. The bumps can clear up, with an exceptionally strong immune system. They may come back if the immune system is weakened. I really like this girl, but she has Chrohn's, and she says it would be a death sentence to sleep with me because of my HPV. I've also read that condoms don't help. I need some hope.
