I agree. First of all, most smokers are not aware about the fourth leading cause of death, COPD. When I found out I had COPD, I didn't even know what the letters stood for. At first I denied it, thinking that I was just out of shape. As I worked at being fit, my symptoms never really diminished. Today women smokers are at a higher risk then men because more women smoke today and they are more likely to to die of COPD. If the population was aware about the disease through television ads, magazine ads, or even knowing about pulmonary therapy, maybe this would have an impact on slowing down their disease or even preventing it.
