I'm 15 and have been suffering from constipation all my life. I've tried eating lots of fruit, veg, high fiber cereals and food and drinking lots of water every day. It works some times, but I still needed to take Metamusil, oils, innerhealth tablets everyday. I avoid eating red meat, dairy products, apples (they can make you constipated), and bread products, as much as possible. I still get constipated and need to take laxatives. I've just given up on trying. It really sucks; it makes you bloated, and really stops you from moving around and doing sports when it gets really bad.
I need an effective solution that doesn't make your bowel dependant on it and strengthens your colon.
I've been to the doctors for a solution. I'm not allergic to anything and just say that I've been born with a lazy bowel and need to keep doing what I'm doing.
But there must be an easier way that will cure me from this forever and I can eat what ever I want without getting constipated.
I really need some solutions!!

Hi. Very good book for constipation relief is The Complete Guide To Constipation Relief Naturally by Petra Ennis. You can find it on Amazon. It helped me to cure my constipation. I can poop normally again :)

Wow. Ever since I was little, I've struggled with constipation. My mom really helped me. She suffered from lazy bowel syndrome, and she invented the absolute BEST cure.
So, buy a syringe, that's 2 tsps. max. Don't bother if it says ORAL USE ONLY. Then, fill it to the top with warm NOT HOT water. Insert it into yourself and squirt it in. Repeat 2-5 times every 30-60 minutes. I was once constipated so badly that I couldn't pass AT ALL, and my mom did this, and if felt like I wasn't constipated. Trust me, it sounds gruesome, but it's not. You barely feel it, and doesn't make lazy bowels. Besides, it's not nearly as bad a suppository.

I have cerebral palsy, unable to walk and consequently severe constipation is an ongoing problem for me. Phosphate enemas work to clear a blockage for me, in terms of maintaining a regular bowel movement, I recommend aloe vera gel. Contact me if you would like more information.

Constipation has almost claimed my life twice and a piece of my small intestine has had to be removed after I suffered obstructions and my intestines came to a complete halt. Like so many of you I also suffered with constipation from infancy and to make matters worse, I have had a few abdominal surgeries later in live which resulted in major legions and growths within my abdominal cavity. Movicol, a stool softener, does help but I have reached a point where I cannot stand the taste thereof and it takes me hours to drink one sachet. Every few months I have to use a bowel cleanser for relief. I have tried all sorts of herbal remedies, diets (take note that high fibre diets can be a big no no for some people)and advice with no results. After reading all the comments and taking my own condition into consideration, I have come to the following conclusion : 1. I'm going to try the beer advice and 2. Eat, drink, walk, Movicol (eat healthy, drink enough fluids, exercise daily and then seal it all with a glass of Movicol) Last but not least - I need someone to beat me with a stick until I follow my own advice

Hi everyone. I am trying to read through a lot of the posts but I am overwhelmed. My 15 year old son is currently dealing with a very hard to define issue. He was diagnosed with Chron's in 2005 after vomiting, excessive diarreha and stomach pain. We eventually went on 6MP which saved his life and kept him symptom free for four years. In 2012 he was diagnosed with high liver count and was taken off the 6 MP. They said it might have been the tail end of an infection which I forgot the name....He was not put back on the 6MP due to clear scopes and not elevated levels of IBD labs. In the fall of 2012 he was put on Prozac due to depression and outburts. By Thanksgiving he was complaning of stomach pain at least 2 times a week. By Feb he was hospitalized but again his IBD markers were normal. His liver enzymes had returned to normal. The only issue noted was constipation. They cleaned him out and decided to switch anti depressants to a more GI friendly one. Wellbutrin. He contiuned to complain of extreme pain. Again labs were normal. A coloncocpsy and edoscopy was done to compare to previous and it was great. No sign of active disease. In April he was inpatient again after trying a strict boost only formula diet for 6 weeks. did not help. Focus of GI was that he was depressed and symptoms were psychosomatic. He hated the Wellbutrin and said it made him feel more sad. I asked for a transit study to be done and it was normal. A capsule endocsopy showed mild inflammation and unclerations which they said could be consisitne with Chron's disease gettign into an active state, but they still stressed the depression. Meds were changed to Zoloft since Wellbutrin was not helping. Accupuncture and a therapist was added. Zoloft helped immedcialty and he was happy and hanging with friends. We got a second opinion and left the pediatric GI. Fast forward to now.....after 6 clean outs for tests he has always had stool left in the colon...dr thought it was a motility disorder but all tests have been negatove. Dr is stumped. He reached out to a retired specialist who said he has never seen a patient do clean outs, have normal transit study (3) and still have poop in colon...only thing that relieves his pain is THC. His dr is perplexed. Had put a call into Temple for a consult...I questioned the anti depressents setting this into motion but hes not convinced. My son is 6 foot 1 and 225 lbs,,and only on 25 MG of Zoloft...when we bump him up he has a very bad rage....Any ideas please.....

I had painful constipated on and off for a mounth, after trying fiber and laxitives nothing worked.

Then I tried beer and it worked and not just a little bit it worked freakin awesome, Some one above suggested beer and I have to agree. The beer I used is called " Becks "

its a german lager . Its a preservative free beer, but I imagine any good Lager would work. I drank a glass of water with it to keep hydrated.

Drink 1-3 bottles before you go to bed and you should be good in the morning.

Try to drink a glass of warm prune juice every day will help you move your bowels. Epsom salts work they attack the constipation really well and very quickly. Itís not good to be constipated; it can really make you sick. Stop the alcohol, caffeine and energy drinks and also avoid the junk foods.

I have struggled with constipation my whole life when I was younger until in the 6th grade. In the 7th grade I started being either extremely constipated or had extreme diarrhea. It was the worst experience in my life. I had to try so hard to go to school every day and as embarrassing as this is to admit I had a lot of accidents while trying to be a normal kid playing sports, going to sleep, and countless middle of the night accidents. I went to countless doctors and hospitals to do test trying to figure this out. I thought it was hopeless and I was just going to live my life in excruciating pain. One day I had such bad cramps I tried to take a warm bath but nothing helped. I laid in bed and just prayed whatever it was it would just kill me. It was the most unbearable pain I have ever felt in my life. I survived thought and in the 9th grade a doctor finally prescribed a medicine which is now known as miralax. I'm now 18 and just graduated highschool and I thought I was going to be fine now since I stopped taking miralax and everything was fine for such a long time. I would have occasional constipation but no diarrhea. That was nothing a dose of miralax couldn't fix thought. Although now my server constipation is back and the miralax isn't helping anymore like it used to not only that it's starting to screw with my period more than usual (it's always been irregular story of my life) and that's what brings me to this page. I felt like I would never be cured and that I was completely alone. I thought know one would ever understand the pain I went through my whole life. It's been a terrible struggle and I've gained a lot of weight since I had to stop playing sports because it was to risky to not have an accident because running around made it a lot worse. Knowing I'm not alone is going to help me keep fighting to figure this out and concur it for good. I am so glad I decided to pick up my phone one last time at 3 in the morning and literally find this site by accident. As silly as this may sound it saved my life. I made it through that day when I was in so much pain I prayed to die to end the pain and I'll make it through all the other nights and days. I wouldn't wish this upon anyone but I'm relieved I'm not alone. If you read all of this and/or shared your story I thank you from the bottom of my heart and if you're struggling I hope you find relief in knowing that you're not alone.

Dear helen

I am sorry to hear of your problem.

It may be due to a weak pelvic floor which is causing obstructed defecation.

Visit www.ansr-healthcareltd.com and watch the shott video as it may explain a few things.

Hope this helps

The most common cause is a damaged pelvic floor which is commonly caused by chronic straining. This then leads to obstructed defecation.

Visit www.ansr-healthcareltd.com and watch the 2 minute video. It will explain alot.

Hope this helps

I have been on pain meds for a long time and have severe constant constipation because of it. My stool is soooo hard it sounds like a boulder when it drops in the toilet!(eww, yuck...I know). Almost every time I go, I usally stop up the toilet. It is so embarrassing! I have tried taking stool softeners and laxatives everyday but nothing seems to work. This last thing I was told to try was something called SORBITOL. Still taking it, on my 2nd day and the only thing I can say about this treatment is that it is making me have GAS. Does anyone have any other suggestions other than:.....laxatives, enemas, fiber products and that (sour ginger-alelike) drink product?? I need some relief!!!!!!

There is another thing you should consider - some other medications you may be on and have side effects like severe constipation.

I had these situations above all together. I feel your pain. Accidentally saw a post about Triphala from Ajurvedic treatment. It was the greatest thing I have ever tried. Its absolutely terrible to take. Tastes so so bad. But the morning relief tastes like heaven. Just buy in powder, not pills. 5g mixed in warm water before bed.
