So let me get this right, the state can't do anything because it's a private road - however when the state feels the need to widen a road or lay down a new highway they can take any private property they want due to eminent domain. Yeah, sure, that makes sense.

Ohh come on people! Back the Grand Am up about 50 feet and go for it! Really. I've done the math. It'll work.

What if they forgo the Road and build a bridge over that area?? I know it would cost, but redoing the same road over and over is costing and just because they pave it doesn't mean it won't wash out again. Just a thought.
Good luck to the family!

I have always referred to that law as "Intimate Domain", because someone always gets screwed..Usually the house owners.

Okay they can't fix this road but in a little town of Randleman in Randolph County they are putting 3 roundabouts. Which is a waste of money. All they needed to do was put a light up at Randleman Walmart. I hope they get this fixed for this family.

I agree with you 100%. That family can not get help but the state can waste money to put up roundabouts in RANDLEMAN. If they would trying to pack things in a small town there would not be traffic issues. People are so confused with the roundabout in front of the school, I can't imagine what the chaos will be when school starts back. The system is screwed up.

I agree with "Are you serious" a better long term plan would be a bridge. Stokesdale has a lot of financially comfortable residents, why don't ya'll pull together and help a neighbor out?

We listened to this story with tears in our eyes. Isn't there any way someone can contact the Army or another branch of the service to "practice" installing a floating bridge for the Perdue's? Since this is a privately owned road and the DOT cannot assist, can our wonderful servicemen and women possibly help them out? We sure hope so!!
