Having been dianosed in 1986 with Colitis of the Colon and been on medication for all these years, with many colonospies I am asking if the F.I.T. Test is a replacement for colonoscopy?

Must say after reading some articles, including journal abstracts via internet, I'm concerned about contamination of colonoscopy equipment (colonoscope???).... Information involved spread of bacterial infection and also HIV and hepatitis were mentioned. Has anyone heard anything regarding tranmission of infections and/or disease via colonoscopy. Approximately 4 years ago I had a colonoscopy and prior to this procedure had asked my doctor questions regarding safety in terms of cleanliness of equipment used. He reassured me that hospitals take every precaution in terms of infection control..... However, given staff shortages, budget cuts and otherwise.....and in light of some of the articles I've since read, I'm concerned about non-disinfected and/or inadequately disinfected hospital equipment.
