I am posting here to let ulcerative colitis sufferers know that there is a center that claims to have a cure for UC. The Probiotic Research Therapy Center in Australia posts on their website that they have a treatment which cures ulcerative colitis over 50% of the time it is tried. It is a bacteria transplant from a healthy colon. Here are the links

http://www.probiotictherapy.com.au/physicians...
and their parent clinic is at this link
http://www.cdd.com.au
their only published study
http://www.cdd.com.au/pdf/UC%20bacteriotherap...
another publication from them
http://www.cdd.com.au/pdf/toyingmotions.pdf

Please be warned that it is extremely difficult to get a response from them. I tried for nearly 2 weeks, sending at least 6 emails from 4 email addresses (I thought their spam blocker must be stopping me), 2 faxes, and several phone calls to try get more information regarding this procedure. The PTRC phone and fax numbers are disconnected, you have to use the CDD #’s and it was still difficult to get someone with PTRC to answer the phone. All I received from them after all that effort was a 3 sentence email saying they require $100 to provide me with more information (and this took 16 days from the day of my first email). This seemed like fraudulent behavior to me and I wrote such an angry email after this that they are now refusing me treatment (when I phoned the center the receptionist also told me that they are no longer offering international consultations, however the email I finally got from them says that they do). I kind of hope they understand how frustrating it was to get a hold of them and how little information they provide at the PTRC website- the CDD website has a more adequate amount of information that I hadn’t seen.

Anyway I really hope that this works and I just wanted to let people know about it- this is a very painful and mentally trying disease and if this therapy works then everyone with UC should have it. It shouldn’t be expensive and could be done anywhere so long as their info (limited as it is) is legitimate and the medical community accepts it. Considering how many people this could help other clinicians really need to do a real study. Please post if you have tried it and let us know if it worked.

I tried to mail myself but got an quota exceeded replay ! If you all out there are trying this then at least you should share info's with each other ... so comment pls.! I'm new with this disease and I'm 30 only .. I can't leave with the thought that nothing could be done except surgery We should make pressure to get answers ... So anybody from Australia can maybe contact them / visit them and let us all know ?

Sounds like something else I read, "The Fungus Link" by Doug Kaufmann. Try amazon.com for reviews. If you follow an antifungal program you will probably get good results. Google "Doug Kaufmann" for info. I followed an antifungal program and got remarkably better after having UC for 13 years. There is truth to this fungus thing.

Doug Kaufmann is a quack who makes money selling his books and helping his sponsors sell their snake oil products.

Well, a "snakeoil" salesman would only sell you something that would be of no benefit to you, or didn't exist...hence the name. In regards to that, I beg to differ with the label you gave him. It is "only" because of the information I learned from reading his book, that I followed his antifungal plan and got well again after 8 years of miserable UC. Have you actually tried any of his suggestions to help you get well again?

This is pathetic, all these young people that are supposed to be healthy with these dreaded intestinal disorders. I think we all need to start standing up and fighting for our rights and make the government accountable for their steady supply of polluted food that wasn't made to be eaten by most people.

Refined foods should be illegal, it's a friggin joke. I hate the US government and Canada's is no better. Europe is the closest thing to paradise in this world, we should take a look in the mirror and change our ways of thinking.

I hate most doctors, they are scum just like lawyers and used car salesmen. lol

Anyways I have not provided any beneficial advise to any with UC but I have this "BLOODY" disease too and it sucks. 25 yrs old and already diseased.

What a joke, if any of you useless politicians read this I hope you can sleep at night knowing your leading the future generations into a plethora of DISEASE!

Oh wait you're probably snoring/relaxed because you have plenty of Oil/energy stocks.

Nobody is forcing us to eat it. There is enough good, real food...fruits, veggies, meats out there we can eat instead, but it is a matter of convenience these days. It takes longer to prepare "real" food. Saying all that, there are too many pesticides, antibiotics fed into our "real" food as well. David, have you tried eliminating certain foods to see if you got a positive response? I highly recommend something like the SCD. I am now "healed?" from following an antifungal diet, similar to SCD. Many have tried it and gotten better. There must be "something" to it....

Kim, Keep up the good work of taking care of yourself. I've also benefitted a lot from Doug Kaufman's show, Know the Cause, on satellite tv. He says "If it helps you, it's probably antifungal." I wonder if real snake is antifungal. Do you suppose it is?

I have had Ulcerative Colitis for more than Twenty years. My life has been a living hell. I struggled to graduate school through University. I have struggled to maintain employment. Really there are no laws to protect us. what else should I post? it is very difficult to have a normal and established life with what we have. Credit score shot to hell. jobs hire and fire. So what do we do? Here is my email glen_david1@yahoo.com We have a disease that people laugh about and get disgusted about. even medical staff have told me to spare the details. We need to organize, and have laws written up to protect us. any ideas?

Doug Kaufmann is in fact full of shit! He's a con man plain and simple. He has Cass Ingram on regularly and everyone knows that he is a quack! If his approach was curing major diseases like he claims his name would be much more well-known by now.

im studying dietetics and have studied uc in detail as well as having it myself.the colon of a person with uc has a totally different ratio of good and bad bacteria in their gut.in mice with uc, experiments were carried out making the colon completely sterile and then re colonising it with good bacteria.result? mice were totally cured. some biologist did the same procedure on himself and got the same results. so its definatley the answer its just such new research that most doctors are stil relying on old fashioned reasoning. but anyways people saying that bacteria is not the answer to uc should maybe read up more about it first.

Just wanted to let people who are interested in fecal bacteriotherapy (as presented by original poster) know - CDD clinic in Australia IS legit, they are very very professional but don't respond to fax or e-mail if you haven't had the initial consultation (I suppose they just don't have time to respond to all the e-mails they are getting). So please, CALL THEM first and schedule a phone consultation and go from there.
