i do not already have cold sores.
to be more specific, this is the scenario my friend is breaking out with a cold sore (but i didnt see it until later) i used his fork (that he used) to cut a piece of his cake (the end that he did not eat from) then i ate the cake but did not directly contact it with my lips. I did not eat from his fork but i used it to cut a piece of cake and took the piece off. do you think i have contracted his cold sore? we did not kiss and there was no direct skin to skin contact but is it possible to contract cold sores from indirect skin contact? thank you for your help!! |

It is possible to contact the HSV1 through indirect objects, such as towels, utensils or toothbrushes.
Your case does not seem like you contacted the virus, but there may be a very small chance. |
