Lesbians and PCOS

There are 7 comments on the lezgetreal.com story from Oct 17, 2008, titled Lesbians and PCOS. In it, lezgetreal.com reports that:

Polycystic ovary syndrome can affect a woman's menstrual cycle, ability to have children, hormones, heart, blood vessels, and appearance. About one in ten women of childbearing age has PCOS. PCOS is the most common cause of female infertility (not being able to get pregnant). The cause of PCOS is unknown. Women with PCOS tend to have a mother or sister with PCOS. Researchers also think insulin could be linked to PCOS. For many women with PCOS, their bodies have problems using insulin so that too much insulin is in the body. Excess insulin appears to increase production of androgen. This hormone is made in fat cells, the ovaries, and the adrenal gland. Levels of androgen that are higher than normal can lead to acne, excessive hair growth, weight gain, and problems with ovulation.

I was astonished to find that the 32% of heterosexual women have polycystic ovaries but in lesbian women the occurrence is a whopping 80%!!!

Just a passing observation on numbers...

This looks like quite a difference in %. But, what % of women are checked-out for this condition, vs women who are never checked? In the study or studies that produced those numbers, were there any other factors that might bring a different percentage of Lesbians than straight women in to be checked?

I don't have any stake in the answers to those questions, except a dislike for half-truths. I remember some political issue a few years ago that looked like an open-&-shut case on the poll numbers. Then somebody admitted the poll (done by phone) could only show what 30% of those who answered their phones told the pollster. Only 30% to 33% still were willing to play, once they knew they'd been called to take a poll. So the "majority" we heard reported by the "news" reader was a majority OF the 30%_33% willing to give an opinion to some stranger who rang their phone.

I base the questions I offered you--on the lesson-learned there. As a man who cannot imagine NOT craving intimate contact with women, I won't pretend to view Lesbianism as a thing one 'cures.' But unless something else brings one into my life, they tend to frequent places I don't and vice-versa. So I wouldn't have a clue as to other factors a study should consider, if statistics seem to connect Lesbians and some medical condition. RKBA! Best regards.

Well many lesbian females have a very mannish appearnance. I'm not talking about boyish haircuts and that, I mean the structure of their faces is distinctly mannish. Combined with mannish haircuts, no makeup, and flannel shirt, from a distance you would think they are men.

And many do not, Rodger. I remember what seemed a lot like a C&W dive in the "Combat-zone" in Boston (except for being *there*), until I was walking right past it. Keep in mind I have a thing for Plumpers, including those that are built a bit on the froggy side, so maybe I was noticing things a bit faster. It was a 'cowgirls-only' dive, but I saw mostly women I would never mistake for men.

Boston might not consider my impressions as a tourist there its proudest moment, but I was a Navy tourist taking in all the sights. So Boston can get over it. RKBA! Best regards.

No they don't at all. Those are only the ones YOU notice. That's like standing on the corner taking a survey of how many people are black and only asking those with dark skin if they are black!

Millions of women are suffering from PCOS, Endometriosis, Cysts, Fibrocystic Breasts, and related cancers because of a stupid iodine deficiency. There is a nationwide epidemic of iodine deficiency because the below chemicals are displacing what little iodine we have.

When you start on iodine with the required supplements, you must start small, less than 1mg lugols and work your way up slowly to 12mg daily over a period of 2 or 3 months. The reason is that every drop of iodine you take in detoxes 1 drop or more of halide chemical toxins. If you take too much iodine too soon, you well get sick from Detox Symptoms.
