I have had chronic pain since the mid 90's. I have advanced DJD and degenerative disc. I have had 3 joint replacements and still need 2 more. I have spinal stenosis of the lumbar and cervical spine and curvature.(both shoulders, both hips, both knees, both feet, my left thumb is even bone on bone)
My doctor now wants to take away my pain meds. I feel like they act like God. How can theyd possibly know the amount of pain I have on a day to day basis? Of course we sound like drug addicts when they take our meds away!
My quality of life will go down quite a bit. I sometimes have the most unbearable pain! I have pain every day. What do I do??

I certainly understand that type of pain. People that have not experienced that kind of pain really have no idea what it is like to live with. Why does your doctor want to take away your pain medication?

because I came back negative for oxycodone. With chronic pain, there are days I have screeming, crying pain, and days I can get around easier. On the days my pain is a 10 plus, or if I keep waking up with pain, I take just 1, that is one extra pill. Some days when I am doing well, I donn't take any so I have enough for that 10 plus pain when it comes back. Anyone that does not have chronic pain will not understand that.

What you are saying doesn't make sence. You would have to be a month without Oxy for it no to show if you get tested. Especially that you have been taking pain meds for a long time.
Your doctor wouldn't take you off Oxy if it came back negative, he would take you off if you tested positive for something else.
What's the true story? With your history, no doctor in their right mind would just cut you off of pain medication.

Make sense or not its true. I get a 3 month supplu at a time. I was off for over a week, and there are other things that also determine weather it is out of the system or not. My doctor has emailed me since I sent her an email. They r not taking me off the meds. They will just do random testing. They r going to reevaluate to allow for extra meds when I have pain that is 10 plus.
Let me ask u, do u ever have pain that leaves u screeming and crying? First thing u want to do is do anything to get rid of it. If u dont understand that, than God Bless u, cause u havent had that kind of pain yet!

I am glad you are still getting your meds. I don't understand how it didn't show up in the drug screening. Did you skip it for more than 3 days?
