Joyce, first things first. If anyone needs a "shrink" it is you. You Fibro's are enough to send any sane person over the top. The Xanax your Dr. put you on were not for panic attacks, no it was to get you to STFU. Fibro is nothing more than a name Dr's gave for crazy women that hassled their Dr. day and night. Fibro's are the psych throwouts of the chronic pain world. I bet your husband needs a lot to drink everyday just having to listen to all that whining.

I too suffer from chronic pain and the best pain doctors I have seen have been shut down due to one reason or another .( mainly becuse of "over prescribing " ) they were kind and caring dr's . I live in washington and in a place where it is such that if you try to get a dr to fill something that works they tell you that " we will give you a few to get by but you can get addicted ." I have been on pain meds since 96 after a bad car accident and have been in chroinc pain ever since. I do have a great family Dr and she has been managing my pain meds untill I could get into the pain dr within the clinic she is at. She has me on two 7.5 endicet a day when I am used to taking up to 4 to 5 a day and so you can see I am too someone who is falling short with my meds and am glad to see I am not the only one who thinks they are doing the wrong thing with their meds. I need to find a dr who understands my pain needs and if anyone knows of anyone that fits that category I would be most appreciative. I am like alot of people who don't have the money to be running around after Dr's and getting put through hoops. Thank you.

What is so upsetting to me about being in pain is substance abusers of pain medications get all the attention and have the public and many Doctors convinced that anyone seeking pain medication is an addict.

I have a serious pain problem that is chronic and I will require pain medications the rest of my life and I do not want it to be difficult for me or others in real pain to get medications legally in the right way through a Doctor.

I feel bad for substance abusers too and believe they should be given treatment, but please do not allow abusers to cause the media to dictate to those in real need of medication.

There seems to be a kind of mass hysteria since Jackson died and he did not even die from pain medications. In fact, none were found in his body even though he had been addicted to them. All I heard for two months were Doctors and drug treatment specialists like that Dr. Drew who thinks everyone on pain med is an addict warning the public about pain medication. I heard no one talk about the millions of people that really do have need of pain medication for real pain and how we are being treated because of the mass hysteria.

Because of the mass hysteria, I have had to go off tablets and onto a patch which makes me tired all the time. The patch is a lot stronger than what I was taking, but harder for the addicts to get. I do not want to have to take something this strong, but I have no choice now.

Please help both the people in real pain and those who are substance abusers, but in different ways.

At least some of you are able to medication to help with your pain.I have Chronic spine pain and my pain clinic says they are "anti norcotic" I have been flying through 800mg Ibu. just to get out of bed.It affects my sleep,my job,and my overall way of living.Welcome to IL.

I to suffer from chronic pain . I have 6 fractured verterbrea's from osteoporosis and falls. i also have barretts esophagus which causes me to regurt just about anything I injest. My doctor EXPECTS ME TO PICK MY PAIN MEDICATION OUT OF MY REGURT AND VOMIT, and then retake it. This in itself is enough to make me sick. I take ms contin 60 mg 5 times a day but lose at least 1/2 sometimes more.Sometimes I can't get the pills out of the vomit and regurt so if I take an extra I run short. At this point because my bones are like glass I can't get the surgery I need to have in order to fuse the fractures. I also need surgery because I have the kyphosis and I have had a couple of verterbroplastys which saved the verterbrea's but did nothing else.I live in NH and am very discouraged about this. If anyone can help me with a online pharmacy or even a pain specialist to be able to have some quality of life so I can care for myself and my special needs 5 year old daughter please let me know asap, having to pick pain and other medications out of vomit and regurt should be a crime against the medical community. this is disgusting, but I have no choise. It's very frustrating to say the least. I have only been on pain medication for about 2 months. I fell down some stairs and have stress fractures all along the left side of my lumbar spine. It's called a pars defect or a "scotty dog fracture". After complaining of pain for about a month my dr finally sent me for an MRI which confirmed there was in fact something wrong with my back. I don't think there are surgery options for this. I read online that it will eventually get better over the years. I'm currently in physical therapy 3 days a week and my dr took me from lortab 7.5 3x a day to 1x a day. I know he has to look out for his license and my well being (not taking too much or becoming addicted) but I have days when the pain really gets to me. I think a lot of doctors in Birmingham, AL are scared of getting themselves or their patients in trouble. Which isn't a bad thing. I'm 30 years old and recently married. This is not how I pictured spending the first few months of my marriage. Climbing the stairs or getting in and out of the bathtub are tasks that I once took for granted. There are some days that I won't even leave my bedroom because I can't make it down the stairs. There are so many other things I've taken for granted: walking, playing tennis, playing with my dogs and stepdaughters outside, living a full active life. I've been referred to a pain management dr so I'm hopeful there are options for me and I'll once again get to live the life I love living.
