I have taken Ezetrol (Ezetimibe) for quite a few years and and have experience the same muscle pain in my hips, knees and lower leg muscles which is constantly getting worse !!)
However, I also take Losartan Postassium (replacement drug for Cozaar) to lower my high blood pressure, and in checking side effects of this medication, it also causes extreme muscle pain, etc.

Hard to know which medication is causing me so much pain .......... possibly both of them !!!.... which could be reason for such pain intensity !!

I stopped Ezetrol after a horrible night of chest pain and problem to breath. I already begin to feel better after 24 hours. I will never take any cholesterol medication again. I had the same side-effects with Bezalib. With statins I had severe muscle pain and short memory lost.
marie, how are you doing without the ezetrol? are your levels any worse? i am in the same position as you. regards, patricia

I have stopped Ezetrol after taking for 12 months initially with Lipitor, but GP suggested just Ezetrol when muscle pain symptoms increased. Still got pains with just Ezetrol.
Now I have stopped I am experiencing increased pain in thigh muscles, like pulled muscles. Could be other factors but I would like to know if anyone else has experienced increased pain initially after stopping the drug.

I have just started to take ezetimibe to lower my cholestrol and have now got joint pain. It started in my shoulder and has gone to my knee and back. All this after just three doses. I am going to find an alternative.
OMG Ezetrol, I just went for a "frozen shoulder" operation, 4 months later my right knee has been weakened- I cannot stand up or walk, the pain is horrible. the pain to my shoulder is back to a lower degree at night.
Six month before I discovered that "sciatic nerve" attack was due to lipitor (statins), it took six weeks before I started to dance again.
I am going to stop taking Ezetrol, to see if that is the cause of my knee pain.

Several small bars of 'hotel' size soap under your bottom sheet will assist with relieving RLS (Eckbaumes Syndrome)!

As my total chokesterol was a little over 200, my cardiologist added Ezitrol 10 mg a fortnight back to the Atorva 5 mg that I regularly take for a long time now.
My experience was bad. I had pain in the knuckles of my left hand besides twitching in the left neck area and a mild electric shock like pain for a fraction of a second from the left chest area to the neck. I also saw a red mark on the right foot.
Suspecting that these developments may be due to Ezitrol, I stopped taking it since last night. I will report this to my cardiologist soon.
I tried Heart Saviour supplement containing Policosanal, Niacin, red rice yeast, Co z etc which brought down total cholesterol from 300 + to 200 + but didn't bring it down further after 3 months of use. But I did not have body pain, cramps etc during it 's use.
My cardiologist wants my number reduced still further to near around 150 or even less.
Any suggestions ?

Hey

Have been on ezetrol for about 2 years maybe less. Was on Statins for over 10 years then all of a sudden my enzymes elevated (not sure what ones)

Dr took me off of them after getting same results with several statins

Just got my results today ALT is 63 (Canadian measure) not supposed to be over 40

I got word over phone from nurse, no instructions to stop taking or see her

I called for results, nurse just returned call

I am stopping taking them as of thgis second...anybody know what ALT 63 MEANS?

I have a stent in heart artery and doctor's orders is to use a cholesterol tablet. I've tried all the cholesterol pills on the market and every single one give me muscle pains in my legs and arms. It get so extreme that it feels as if I cannot walk! What can I use that has no such side effects, as I MUST use something for cholesterol. At the moment I stopped using it, and according to my doctor it is very dangerous, because I have the stent in the artery...... any suggestions?

I thought I was the only one! Statins, made my life a nightmare, all the simptums described by many in the above letters. Started on Ezotrol much less of a problem than the Statins but still have neck pain, tired, all my muscles are sore and weak. I seam to be also losing muscle mass. All my doctor is interested in is numbers, I understand low cholesterol is the best thing but at what cost. Constant pain and lack of movement? I think I will come off Ezotrol for a while and see how I feel. It's funny how you kinda get used to feeling unwell after so many years. HAS ANYONE GOT ANY GOOD WORDS ABOUT EZOTROL??

please dont take them like yourself i came off my statins which i had been taking for 8/10 years by my self not because the dr told me to as i was suffering from very bad muscle pain and damaged nerve endings (due to the statins) + much more.i felt great within one week and i am now on ezterol and as i told the doc that the statins didn't agree with me. i am experiencing stomach bloating, muscle pain and very bad lower back pain, also i was told i had tennis elbow when i was on the statins only for that to stop when i came off them. now i am having trapped nerves and muscle pain in the shoulder, i want to come off these too as my cholestrol is 12.3 (english reading) and should be about 4. dont know what elst to do.

i have been on ezetinibe for a year due to the problems of side effects of the other statins i have developed 6th nerve palsy in my right eye the muscle behind my eye is paralysed. wondering if this is because of using statins?. has anyone else developed eye problems with ezetinibe or ezetrol.
i have terrible blurry eyes and other very bad pain in other parts of body trying to come off the ezetrol but cholestrol was 12.3 after i took myself off the statins after 8/10 years with out the doc say so. i will have my next test on the 2nd of april and if that hasn't done anything will come off them anyway, i will get some vit b3 and try that.
