There have been many studies conducted about autism, why it exists and its possible treatments. There was one study which linked autism to antidepressant intake, particularly Paxil. Paxil has been reported to cause birth defects, suicidal tendencies and heart problems by the FDA. Other studies have linked Paxil to autism and breast cancer as well. See:
