First, "chickenpox and hepatitis B, which is typically given within the first days of life" is not true. Varicella is given between 6 and 18 months. "mandated vaccines" is also incorrected. It's a recommended schedule. The only thing 'mandated' is access to public school.
It's not surprising Mark Largent is attempting to get some notoriety over this, hard to figure his reasonings since he pretty much is some unknown person. It's the same mistakes one can find in many articles, and the any reader will get lost in finding what he meant by 'real problem' really is. What was the real problem? "parents must accept responsibility" who didn't know that already? Or was it "than simply drifting into a decision that has been made by someone else."? Or was it that he decided not to give his child the seasonal flu shot and supplemental vaccine for swine flu? You got to be kidding. Those are optional and not required for public school access but in one state, and most parent choose not to give optional vaccines. Those are not the vaccines in the autism debate that is in question, nor is it the vaccines doctors are "all-or-nothing approach". And why would you give a flu shot if the child already contracted the flu? That's a no brainer. If your child contracts pertussis, their immunity will last a few years so why give the vaccine? Most doctors wouldn't.

I'd look for an online group, like yahoo or FB to ask such questions. They tend to be troll-free and offer better suggestions than an open forum does.

My biggest problem to date with Asperger's-Autism is diapering needs for the adult child. Trying to restrain a child as big as a bull dozer is not easily done.
Also, I find it necessary to Duct tape his diaper or otherwise he removes his poop & smears it all over our walls.
Any advice?
Oh, you know how little boys can tinkle when you change them, think what a big boy does.
And thank Pharma for your dilemma. While you change diapers Pharma CEO'S and owners ride around in Limo's and Lear Jets.
