i have struggled with this issue ongoing for years. no matter what, i cannot stop outbreaks. it seems every time i go out and drink and stay out late i wake up with one starting. try zyroxin. it works well for me. keep it around so that right when you feel one starting you can apply it and stop it then. i have bought the one from cvs pharmacy as well and it works. they call their generic version "cold sore relief" this is the first OTC product ive found thats ever really helped me.

I currently have one. I typically take Valtrex (prescribed by doctor) as soon as I feel the tingling. I also take lysine and denavir (which is a cream prescribed by doctor) and typically the cold sores are shortened and to a less effect. I could not make it to get my prescriptions in time so I have one

Genital herpes symptoms will show within two weeks of the initial infection. The first sign will be the itching and reddening of the skin, which will lead to the formation of blisters. These blisters are usually painful and will not disappear for as long as two weeks. This is the time that the infection is highly contagious. Infected persons
should refrain from having sexual contact because they can pass on the virus to their partners.

A person should seek medical attention immediately as soon as the genital herpes symptoms manifest in the body.People with genital herpes should stay away from sunlight as much as possible. Too much exposure to the sun can irritate the skin further. Unscented bath and hygiene products should be used during treatment. A patient should wear loose clothing made of natural fabric such as cotton. Medications such as ibuprofen and aspirin can be taken to lessen the pain. Patting the irritated skin with cool, clean cloth can also soothe pain and discomfort. Infected persons should always wash their hands all the time and they should avoid touching the mouth or the eyes after touching the sores.

People who are having these symptoms should consult accredited herpes specialists at http://simplestdtesting.com/herpes-tests.html to be able to make sure whether these symptoms are due to herpes or other illness. It is necessary to discuss the condition with a doctor for possible treatments and medications.

You can also try...
1) Ice cubes
2) alcohol to help swelling and dry it up
Finally, GARLIC. It works, I too have been getting them for awhile, I read somewhere about garlic and you place it right on. The first time I did not have garlic so tried garlic salt and it helped to dry it up quick and shrink it on the 1-2 day. But try regular garlic try to break it up and place right on your lip.

Ms Me is so true. Ice cubes work wonders for cold sores.
Massage the ice right into the spot where you feel the cold sore coming on. Usually it will prevent the fever blister from popping out.

If the ice doesn't work, and the blister shows up, try the garlic. A better way that I have found is to mince the garlic or use a garlic press, then rub the garlic and its juices on the cold sore. This works for some people.

Some other good remedies are using L-lysine (you can get it in tablets or a lotion form.) This drys and heals the cold soar.

Another great solution is taking Vitamin B tablets. Most cold sores are caused by a lack of vitamin B. So boost your system with vitamin B supplements to put an end to your problem.

I've heard a lot of drugs on the advice of various circles and friends. But I do not think there is a match in my day. When I found HSV-Zero. I thought long without using it and within 10 days, i will treat an outbreak of herpes.

I have always suffered from bad herpes outbreaks around mouth, chin nasal area. I take L-Lysine daily, use ice cubes at first sensation of an outbreak and freshly squeezed lemon juice splashed around mouth.I never use commercial gels etc as they are worse than useless and spread the sores while they are at the most contagious stage.
Avoid sugar as much as possible.57

I will throw one recommendation out there for you. Try LAB57 you can buy it on amazon. Prevents breakouts..you can use it everyday..Ive mentioned it a few times I would really be interested to have somebody else use it and let me know if it is doing the same thing for them as it did for me..i swear by it. Some DDS in NYC invented it...and was giving out samples to his patients a friend gave me a tube...when I ran out I had to buy it online. All I can say is somebody else HAS to try it.

Cold sores or herpes simplex commonly confused with the genital herpes virus, yet it is separate virus strain. Over 90% of the world’s population has been exposed to this cold sores virus.

Cold sores is highly contagious through skin contact and the exchange of saliva, such as kissing, sharing glass, or other eating utensils with an infected person.

Once a person gets infected by the virus, it will remain inside the body, for his/her entire life.

Cold sores sufferers will have some symptoms before the blisters appear on the mouth, lips and nose. The symptoms called “prodomes”. The condition of prodomes is tingling, or burning in the areas that are affected by the virus.

Next, redness begins to appear in forming the blisters. The blisters can be small, and large, they sometimes make a cluster in the area of mouth.

The sores last several days, and sometimes a week. Once the sores begin to dry up, the scabs will form.

The entire cycle will vary, but typically lasting between 7-12 days. There are methods that can be implemented and discussed throughout an e-book that will not only reduce the cycle time, but that will prevent the outbreaks from occurring from the first place.
