Any oncologist treating breast cancer who is "just starting" to use Vitamin D as part of the treatment is behind the curve. My oncologist has been doing this since AT LEAST a year ago last September.

This isn't a matter of just taking a little extra or exposing your skin a little, people. You need to have your Vitamin D levels checked because some people just don't absorb it well. I have to take mega-doses of it to keep my Vitamin D where it should be, and I live in Florida, am in the sun a lot and only use sun lotion (except my face and hands) when I'm going to be out a long time.

If you use a lot of suntan lotion (and a very good case can be made for that) or cover up a lot (a very good case fo that)-- or if you don't absorb it well -- you need to have it monitored by your doctor. Don't just go to the vitamin counter.

In addition, calcium isn't absorbed well without adequate levels of Vitamin D ... and when breast cancer spreads, it tends to look for "weak spots" in your bones. It's really important to keep your bones strong.

PS: I have no idea why this board says I am from Spring Hill (a town in Florida). I am in Florida, but not in Spring Hill.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Taurus

Someone gets in a bit of a muddle today and it could take some unravelling. For instance, they might get their wires crossed, leading to all sorts of misunderstandings. You might also encounter someone who is trying to rewrite history, perhaps because they can't bear to remember things as they really were. Should you set them straight or leave well alone?
