My wife is also a 2 time breast cancer survivor. She too found the lump her self after the mammogram had told her she was ok. Her first surgery was in 2004 and included a mastectomy of the right breast plus excision of 3 involved lymph nodes from her arm pit.

In 2009 she again found another lump only 2" from where the first cancer had been. Again, she had surgery for removal of the tumor plus the excision of more than 40 additional lymph nodes.

As a result of the chemo which destroyed her immune system and radiation from which she still suffers, she now is totally disabled. She suffers from Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, Lymph edema, Peripheral Neuropathy, insulin-dependent diabetes, Scoliosis and more. She requires about 15 different medications daily and has for the past 10 years.

All of these problems have manifested since her chemo and radiation. She had no symptoms of any of these prior to treatment.

We've never had one penny of help or even an offer of help from any cancer-related organization or any other help of any kind other than health insurance. In addition to owning a small business I have been her care-giver since the first surgery in 2004.

I am very proud of my wife and am continually amazed at her ability to even function with the amount of pain she endures and has endured on a 24/7 basis since 2004.

I am continually amazed that the medical profession does not adequately warn of the potential risks involved with chemo and radiation. Yes, they tell you of the side effects, the hair loss, the nausea, etc. However, they do not tell you of the risk of what my wife has suffered for nearly 10 years, that the chemo can and will destroy the immune system and that all these other auto-immune diseases can and will manifest themselves in the absence of a strong immune system.
