There are several theories on this. Part of it does involve nutrition like vitamin D, but there is more to it. But it would have to come down on healthcare availability and beliefs too. The Black Community seems to have more reckless feelings about things like that, and there may be a communication gap. For instance, a doctor may tell a patient her films are fine and when to come back in next. She may not understand that the doctor is saying the images are able to be examined, not that they were examined already and found to be acceptable. So they may assume that means they are safe and refuse to do the followup. "Why do I have to come back if the mammogram is fine?"
