I know losing your hair can be traumatic. I have been through this.

But I urge women to not over-focus on a temporary loss of hair.

There are two reasons for that.

First, it's just a side effect. It's not the "big battle."

Second, it can go on for a long time. If you have to take AI's afterwards, you will find that those drugs significantly depress the return of your hair. So it could go on well past the chemo. I don't LIKE it, but it happened to me. The new AI's were new enough that it wasn't listed as a significant side effect, but it's very real.

To be upset about something that may well last a long time is counter-productive.

I applaud the hair dresser involved.

I also bought two of the wig I chose, and it's a good thing I did, because I accidentally ruined the first one over a BBQ grill and I was able to replace it with the "back up" without dramatically changing my look and drawing a lot of attention to my situation.

I not only shaved my head -- I started wearing the wig before I started chemo. I didn't want my friends buzzing about it when my hair started falling out. When it did start falling out, I had my head shaved.

That won't be right for everyone. I throw it out there for who might find it to be a good idea.
