In spite of the big benefits I simply could not tolerate it. 50% of women go off aromatase inhibitors before the five years are up for the same reason.
I wish I had been told the truth. I don't think it would have changed anything, but I would have felt treated with respect instead of trying to hide the negatives from me.
Some people tolerate them well. I'm one of them that did not -- not AI's, and Tamoxifen was even worse.
Ask lots of questions and DEFINITELY give them a try. If you're having a hard time with them, it may mean more medications to deal with the side effects, but they really are life-saving.
But even with that, I simply could not tolerate them. I'm not everyone, but I do wish both sides of the story was told honestly.
