New Report on Cell Phone Radiation Details Flaws in Industry Study

A new report again brings up the oft-asked question, "is there a link between cell phone use and brain tumors," AKA "do cell phones cause brain cancer." What's most interesting is that the report additionally details eleven design flaws of the 13-country, Telecom-funded Interphone study, which was intended to determine the risks of brain tumors with cell phone use, though its full publication has been held up for years.

Yes they do.

I know somebody who had one removed on the side of his brain where he uses his phone. So have many many many other people. Cancer is on the rise, and it is a known fact that radiation causes cancer. Cell phones use radio waves.

What is silly, are the people who actually trust private for-profit organizations to do studies on their own products.......

Are we really that dumb?

Do we really expect them to fund a research report on their own products and have it actually tell us the truth?

The article is not so complete.

Leaving aside whether cell phone use, in particular, can be shown to cause or contribute to brain cancer, it would be nice to see some stats showing brain cancer rates have increased since the mass adoption of mobile phones in areas where these phones have heavy penetration. There should be _some_ spike in rates if there is an effect even with the long latency period, and one would at least consider that given the ubiquity of mobile phone usage that brain cancer rates would not only be increasing, but be increasing faster than other cancers, like, say, liver cancer.

Then there's the dicier problem of exposure to all these microwave towers and electric power grids and wifi networks and bluetooth devices and tasers - sorry, different thread - and whether they have biological effects...which unfortunately would obscure my preceding question about the rate of increase for brain cancer versus other cancers....

My own risk versus benefit assessment at this juncture, even if something were proven, would be that I can't live without a mobile phone.(Although an alternate, benign technology would be nice if cell phone usage could be shown to be detrimental.)

I can live without other likely cancer causes or co factors such as cigarette smoking or eating vast quantities or red meat or drinking lots of alcohol.

My name is Kevin, and I am an American citizen living in Canada. One year ago I was diagnosed with a deadly brain tumor. I had seven ounces of cancer removed my my right side-brain. The only thing my tumor did not contain was the logo from my cell phone.

The first question the emergency room doctors asked my wife was, what side does he talk on his cell phone: The answer, my right.

6 years ago when I met my wife I was living in the south east US. we talked every night for hour at a time, until my phone went dead.

Ironicaly, Doctors would later determine that my cancer got its start around the time I met my then girlfriend, and now wife.

Since my surgery and following chemo and raidiation I am happy to report that I am cancer free. Not even a glimpse of cancer has returned.

Personally, I attribute the success to me no longer using cell phones as much as I do my treatment and surgery.

There is no doubt in my mind, or in my tumor that cell phones cause cancer.

Unfortunatly several piers that I met during treatment did not share this theory and openly continued using their cell phones with no concerns. Two of those of those friends have passed away in the last 30 days. My last MRI from two weeks ago...CLEAR.

This happened to a very good friend of mine too. He is now > $100,000.00 in debt, despite going to Cook County hospital.

This issue hasn't even hit critical mass yet.

mobile phone radiation is not harmful in small doses however if you stay on the phone for long periods and talk along with heavy background noise ie say engine noise etc then you may run the risk of body cell damage; note normal body cells have the power of recovery from short bursts of low level radiation; mobile phones contain solid state magnatrons which are reasonably harmless ie; they give out low level bursts of micro-wave energy considered safe by many qualified engineers; being very very close to mobile phone masts may not be safe needs further research;
