If this teen is hosting the fund raiser, why do all of the posters in town say it is sponsered by Pathway Community Church? Is it a church function as the posters say or not?

The Wilmington Free Press has an ad that says the host for the golf tournament is Pathway Community Church. Are they trying to hid behind Jake or is Jake taking advantage of a tax break by using the church's name?

Jerry and Bob,
Hi. I am Jake Zlomie, I organized the golf outing. I attend Pathway Church, in order to make it a success we needed a 'bank' so to speak. Pathway was able to receive funds and give contributors a tax-break through 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. Once all donations were received and expenses paid, the balance of the golf outing fund was given to the Family of Brian Coleman.
