I had the mirena removed 4 days ago. Im so happy. Ugh with 8 months of feeling sick it was terrible. the doctor thought i was nuts because of the symptoms i told her i was having. she wouldnt remove it. Finally i went to a different hospital and got it taken out. went back to using birthcontrol pills. way better. mirena is evil Haha nvr again.

Had mirena twice total 10 years but did not have it replaced as would be a second general anaesthetic ! As insertion was difficult ! it was great no problems kept same weight for 10 years no periods .Had depo injection as emergency as going on holiday. This was terrible hair started falling out , weight gain tiredness, mood swings etc etc...Did not have another one so ran out in August.Since then been terrible..Bloated weight gain boobs massive and very tender.( usually 34A).Tired all the time and anxious ..Does anyone know how long does it take to leave your system and get back to normal ?

I had my Mirena in for approx 6 months and while the absence of a usual period was awesome, the constant cramping, spotting, and 7KG weight gain was horrible! On top of all that I had already contracted BV prior to having this put in, my Gyno insisted the Mirena would get rid of it and lo and behold the Mirena made the BV worse with a constant smell that only a tampon (when I didnt even need to use a tampon) would cover it up.
I have had this Mirena out now for about 3 weeks and instantly felt better. No cramps, no bloat and no spotting. Im waiting to get my first normal period now having gone straight onto the pill.
The only bad thing is the smell. It's not as bad anymore but still there. I will basically use some tea tree oil on a cotton bud that i swipe around inside (not too far in obviously) and baby powder in my undies but other than that i have no idea of how else to get rid of this. antibiotics help for a little while but unfortunately once you get BV you are likely to be stuck with it and it seems Mirena made mine worse.
I am though very glad to have gotten it removed because the other side effects were just yuck for me.

I had my mirena removed after 6 months as I bled daily for the entire 6 months it was in. Within a few hours I felt less bloated and congested. Feels like things are moving more freely inside me, if that makes any sense. I was so surprised to feel a a difference immediately. I had some weight gain while mirena. Especially around my mid-section. Hope I get rid of that now.
Glad that thing is gone. I had it fitted to treat dysfuncional bleeding. It did nothing to resolved this.

Just got mine out today after 5 years and hope ill start dropping this stubborn ass weight. For your issue though your ph balance is probably off. You should get yourself some acidophilus and take it daily. It helps regulate your girly hormones that makes you stinky and sticky in you happy place. ;0)

Ihad my mirena removed 2day. The worst pain in life!!!!! They couldn't find my strings in in the process discovered that my uterus was tilt to the back it took them an hour to get it out I thought I was going to die. Wouldn't recommend this for anyone. I have four kids and child birth wasn't this bad!!!

I had the mirena inserted in Jan 2011 and had it removed Nov 7th. Removal was not bad some cramping but bleeding started almost immediately. Thankfully I had only one bout of heavy bleeding and clots but based on what I have read I will be very cautious for a while. While on the mirena I bleed in some way constantly, I developed an odor needed to wear a liner constantly. Since I never knew when I would spot any time I went to the beach or pool I had to wear a tampon just in case. The weight gain is a whole other issue I gained almost 30 pounds for no reason. I am hoping some of it just drops as my body adjusts. My mind is clearer then it has been, some anxiety still exists but I can live with that. Good Luck to everyone, reading all of the posts has helped me tremendously.

I had my mirena removed after continuous hair loss, sharp abdominal pains, and spotting. Sex became ultimately less enjoyable due to me always feeling like I was going to hurt my guy if I moved the wrong way. It got to a point where I would lay there like a beached whale in fear that my strings would sever his penis. Lol. I too have gained quite a substantial amount of weight. And after reading around and only finding literally 2 good posts about it I decided to have it removed! BEST DECISION EVER!!!!!! Good luck ladies ;)

I hadthe merinafor 4 years. The side effects progessively got worse, i eperienced what i believe was an an autoimmune issue causing my body to reject all foreign material.(including ethibond material) from my tummy tuck. I also experience massive amounts of weight gain, bloating, cramping, ovarian cysts, lower back pain, restless leg syndrome, skin issues on face, arms and legs. Repeated bacterial infections and yeast infections. Sex was uncomfortable. Would not recommend for anyone. I decided that condoms was the best way to go. No more synthetic hormones for me! I got my mirena out 5 days ago. Started period about 4 days later. Still bloated but feeling different somehow... Too soon to tell if skin will improve.

Hi everyone...
I was on these boards last month trying to decide whether or not to stick with it and this is my story. Hope it helps!
I had mirena for over 3 years and tried to stick with it because... well, it was already in. It was hell from the start. Hubby could feel the cords, so we got them shortend, then my pap came back abnormal( which it has never ever done that) sex drive? Whats sex? lmao... acne, cramps, headache, extreme weight gain, moodiness, constant spotting, bloating, you name it... i had it.. I had numerous doctors appointments for everything from high blood pressure to panic attacks.. none of these were issues before mirena.. I harassed my doctors office monthly, and like so many people I was told that the symptoms were in my head or that I was too sensitive etc. FINALLY- i got fed up, went and saw another doctor, WHO DOES NOT RECOMMEND OR Place Mirena IUD's, He removed it on a wednesday,(didnt even feel it) He through it in the trash(I opened the garbage and spit on it!) I started a reallly heavy period( heavy period, a pad every 2-4 hours, clots) that following friday ( 2 days later), it lasted for 7 days, and once it was finally over, i repeatedly raped my husband... grown up time post mirena,IS FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!! <--- under statement OMG! I am sooo glad i listened to myself.. After this whole experience, I will never ever ever ever use any kind of birth control, pill patch shot, I dont care...( got pregnant with twin girls on depo-provera) I am officially anti birth control. If that means having 17 kids then thats just what we will do. I instantly lost 16 pounds, by the time my period was over...( no change in diet or exercise or habits) PAP CAME BACK NORMAL!!!! WOOOOOO, blood pressue down instantly, bloating gone, mood swings gone, PAIN! GONE! I feel almost like i just gave birth after being pregnant for 3 years with the mirena. Removal has been the second best choice ive made besides divorcing my ex! Good luck with your mirenas and everything else!

Today I was going about my daily routine when I just stopped and realized my husband and I have only been intimate MAYBE 20 times in the last 4 years.... something had to change. When I got the mirena in 2007 I bled for about 3 months. After that I never felt like having sex. I'm amazed that I'm still married!!! I thought that to be my only symptom until I began reading what these other ladies had to say. The 20 pounds I put on, the acne, hair loss and lack of energy. I loved not having to worry about birth control all these years but it seems I will be looking into getting my tubes tied and making arrangements to have my mirena removed ASAP. Thank you all for sharing so much personal information.

I had my mirena removed on September 28 of this year. I had a very light period for a few days after the removal. I did not have another period until October 26, but my period has yet to stop. My iron levels are low and I am always tired. While I had the mirena (which was only for 2 years) I had many UTI's and yeast infections and was always needing medication. I was always getting jabbed by the mirena. At fisrt my dr had me get an intrauteren ultrasound to see if I had any cysts, which I didn't. She finally just told me that it's normal. I was jabbed every single day for 2 years. I also had no sex drive and am very happy that my amazing husband loves me enough to deal with that whole mistake called the mirena iud. I am so happy that I had it removed, I just hate being so tired all the time and bleeding for over a month.

Tosha, I just wish all the husbands are like yours. Not just for being understanding in the sex thing, but for all the pains and moodiness. From your description, all those effects may be related to your IUD based on what I've read on sites like http://www.mirenalawsuit.us and others. Check it out to know more.

Ive had mirena twice and loved it. The only side effects i had was a little vaginal discharge.(all the time). Over looked that because i enjoyed the freedom of not having to worry about pregnancy or a period. Just got the second one removed, now trying the pill. 11/21 iud removed and started pills, 11/22 started bleeding...lasted for about 5 days. Now on my third week of pills and have pregnancy symptoms. Do anyone know if I am protected on this first pack of pills?(maybe too late)

Maybe your partner need to be treated as well. You may transmmitted BV to him and vice versa.

Including my friend, that makes it 5 you had the mirena iud removed after a short period. She was really moody and it seemed she was always in pain. Someone told her to check http://www.mirenalawsuit.us to find out if others had the same experience.

I had my IUD removed yesterday and i got to share my thoughts. The IUD has been a wonderful birth control for me. I never had one problem at all and i will be getting another. I lost weight with it, never had a mood swing or anything else negative. I stopped my period after only a year and that was so great!! I never worried once about getting pregnant and what a relief to not take a stupid pill!! I recommend this to any and everyone!!
