Those of you who have used it can you please tell me how long to expect the spotting and bleeding? I had my paragard iud inserted after 12 years on BC pills. I hated the hormones and switched to this. Insertion is almost two weeks ago, and Im still having bleeding and spotting. I was only off the pill for one week when it was inserted and I was not on my cycle. Will my cycle change? I dont know what to expect...what about libido-will it be affected by the copper iud? I know my pills sure killed it for me! any info from you is appreciated..

I've had my copper IUD for 4yrs 4mos till this day I don't know when I'm going to have my period and when ovulating the pain runs from my back to my pelvis. My period used to be about 9 days for a couple of yrs but now 5-7 days and spots during the month. I had gained 20-30lbs since I had it inserted, plus I have a lot of migraines, signs of yeast infection and signs of ovarian cysts. I'm planning to get it remove next month when I have my physical.

My IUD was inserted on Oct. 2009. It didn't hurt at all, well to me. I think for about two-weeks straight I had a period. I guess you can compare it to the after pregnancy period. My periods had just fixed to regular, then once again turned irregular. Hmm, they have stayed irregular and its frustrating not to know when your periods are comming. The thing I hate is, sometimes while im having sex I get severe cramping on my lower belly. Well I never asked my doc before, but I have askedd all my friends and they have the same feelings as well. So I say its normal. Its better than all other birth controls because with the IUD you dont have to remember to take/change anything.

I just got mine, 2 weeks ago... Still bleeding. I am trying to research if that's ok. I guess, I should take iron pills?

My paragard was inserted January 27 of this year. Its been 2 months going on 3 with the paragard and I'm still irregular with spotting\ bleeding between that lasts up to 3 days and my period lasts 7 days. Extreme cramping & during sexual intercourse I also get a sharp pain in my lower stomach area. I'm guessing its normal. Pain in the ass and I get sick of bleeding all the time. I go through at least 50 to 65 tampons a month. I have not gained any weight and the no hormones are great. I'm just ready to be back to my normal periods. Hope this helps. I also had the marina for 3 years after having my 2nd child. I developed p.I.d with it and had major problems with weight gain and depression from the hormones produced. I would recommend paragard before marina.
