I've been on NuvaRing for over a year now and it has been great. Very easy to use, convenient, etc. I didn't gain weight, get bloated, feel sick or anything. I do think, however, that the ring has made sex painful, though I can't be sure because I only had sex a few times before going on the ring. I think I'm going to try a pill for a while and see if sex becomes less painful. Good luck!

Make sure the ring is placed correctly (high in the vagina, to the cervics). Otherwise it may fall out, even when you urinate. No matter what you hear there is a correct way to place it.

I've been on it for a little year and I have good and bad experiences.
The bad: They selling point that you don't have to deal with it everyday is true, but when I'm really swamped I tend to forget about it. Also, it's decreased my sex drive and it seems like the longer I'm on it, the less of a drive I have. The good: It's been amazing for my periods. I know exactly when it's going to start (I'm usually right up to 10 minutes of it starting) and it's only about three days long, which is really nice. |

I had severe mood swings and my sister who was on it for about 6 months was diagnosised with blood clots. There was no genetic cause for the blood clots and the dr ruled it was from the ring.

I've been on it over for a year now and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEEEE it! My friends call me a NuvaRing promoter. I schedule it in my calender when to put it in and take it out so I don't forget but other than that I just forget about it COMPLETELY. I can't feel it at all and forget it's even in there!
Only complaint is that (and I don't want to get too graphic here) is that during some positions during sex he can definately feel it and I can feel it but it's designed so that you can take it out for no more than 2 hours. So if we want that I just take it out for a half hour and I'm good to go! It is VERY important not to forget about it each month though, or else you will get pregnant and the instructions say you should try to take it out/put it in around the same time each month. In terms of side effects, I haven't noticed anything different. I still get PMS (irritability) but like one of the girls above mentioned my period works like clock-work which is really NICE! I highly reccomend it if 1)Remembering to take the pill everyday at the same time is hard for you and 2)You will be responsible enough to not forget about it once a month and take it in/put it in. IT's GRRRRREEEEEEEAR!!! |

I have been using NuvaRing for about 10 months...I gained a couple of pounds initially, but have stayed at pretty much the same weight since then...I would assume that if you had side effects with another birth control pill that your chances are greater of seeing side effects with another type of birth control. Was the Ortho Tricylin your first time using birth control and if not, did you see any side effects from using other types previous to Tricyclen? These are good questions to be thinking about....However, if you are really concerned or want to know for sure you should seek advice from your doctor. Good Luck! |

i hate the nuva ring, so much i made an appt. to get a copper IUD. it makes you gain weight, dry and uninterested in sex. in theory, it's the best hormonal bc, but in reality it sucks. oh, and as a bonus you retain alot of water:)

The ring saved my sex life. I was terrified of getting pregnant on the pill because I couldn't mannage to take it at the same time every day. I have had NO trouble remembering to take it in and out (it's in my day planner, it's not that hard to do something important 1 time.) Ihave experienced no discomfort. I really encourage my friends having trouble with other methods to try it.

I used the ring for about 2 years. After my second child I was on oral BC and having break through bleeding every month, basically I was having ONE week of NO bleeding. Which sucked to say the least. I tried EVERY oral birthcontrol there was.(Orto- Tricyclin, Othro evra, etc...) My MALE OB didn't seemed concerned that for over a year I bleed for three weeks a month. I switched ob's and my woman ob recommended the ring. I tried it and never had any more break through bleeding.
One thing abou the ring is that you can't be squeemish about putting your fingers in your vagina. The farther back and up you insert it the better. I did have two times that the ring worked its way down to where I could feel it.(like if you don't insert a tampon far enough in) all I did was take it out and re insert it. I also notice that on oral bc my libido was almost non existant and normally I am quite frisky the ring was better, I was not up to the non hormonal frisky level but I was better than with the oral. I loved not having to remember when to take a pill, you pop it in for three weeks then take it out for one. I highly reccomend it. |

Ok, I'm going to start using the Nuva Ring this sunday...so it will be the first time to insert it...yeah I know this is probably a dumb question, but anyone have tips on how to insert it. My doc gave me 2 samples and I was hoping there were instructions...nope. I truly hope this BC works. I had the Mirena and had to have it removed...too many issues and it sucked. I was on 2 diff. pills since May 30 and I have bled pretty much since it was taken out.*crossing my fingers* I hope this works!!

My doctor actually suggested that I insert the ring inside of a plastic tampon applicator and use that to insert. It works great! That was you're guaranteed to get it in far enough.

well i started using the nuva ring on thurs. i was bleeding heavily and cramping so bad my doc told me to go ahead and use it. so far so good. still bleeding some and cramping but it's no where near as bad now. the first insertion was a bit difficult but i got it.

Judged:
1 I have experienced some extreme mood swings during the time period I remove it...Is this common? I have my boyfriend ,friends, and family asking me whats wrong....and I just break out into tears for absolutely no reason. I've been on it for 7 months and I've noticed an increase of this behavior....however only during the week it's removed. |

Yes, the effect would be you're no longer guaranteed protection. Seriously. Once out for 3 hours, you have to have it in there again for a certain amount of time before it builds up in your blood once more.

HELP!!! anyone out that has used the nuva ring....i need to know how long does it take after you remove the ring for your period to show up. i took it out yesterday at 9.30 am...it's now 4.30 pm the next day and nothing...no spotting, no cramping....no nothing. well not completely nothing, i've been having really bad heartburn and nausea for about the last 4 days. and the great thing is that i only get heartburn when i am preggers. i'm hoping it's just the hormones and what not...but i'm kinda freaking out. i don't want to run out and waste the money on pregnancy test....ACK!!

i'd take it out Sat AM & get my period Wed PM every time...

ok thanks...the funny thing is that my doc told me that i had different choices on how long i could leave it in...the most used = in 3 wks out 1 wk...in 4 wks out 1 wk...or in 4.5 wks and out 3 days. so i went with that last one. i was sick and tired of bleeding...so i guess i will see if anything happens, if not it's just going right back in.
and NOT preggers btw!! yay! hubby had to stop on his way home and get a test...lol |
