okay so here i go! i hope someone can give me a little advice on this...
side effects iv had that i THINK my mirena iud is the culprit:
(has to be the IUD)
*my period is light but last for weeks on one day off the next..on again, off again.:(
*really bad odor down below that not even a good shower will help at times! i know thats gross and its driving me crazy!
(dont know for sure if its the IUD)
*bloating im a small girl 120 pounds..but look like im 5 months prego sometimes.
*tired and have absolutely no energy ever it seems. the smallest things seem to drain me!
soo does anyone else with the mirena have these problems??
and most of all im needing to know what to expect when having it removed next week... and will these side effects go away soon after removal if anyone else has had this experience and had it removed please share with me your story i need to know!!
all helpful comments will be greatly appreciated!!! thank you!
im also needing another B.C method advice on that would be nice also.

No, all the side effects will no go away immediatley.
Every one is different.

My mood swings were noticeably different within a few days.

I had my Mirena out early Feb'10 ; and have only had my period every other month.
..but I had not had a period in 15 years. I had the depo shot before I had the Mirena inserted.

Getting the Mirena removed was no biggie at all. Just like having the annual Gyn exam.

Sorry, no other suggestions. I think all BC can be bad depending on the person. Luckily my current hubby already has a vasectomy and I don't have to worry about it.

Good Luck!!!

I have the Mirena and have had it for 4 years and DO NOT like it at all and want it out! My Dr. keep trying to talk me out of having it removed. I seem to bleed most days, whether it is just simple spotting or a 13 day long period! I bled most of the first year and it has not improved much since then...I want it out. All these other symptoms you have mentioned I also have and had never put them together with the mirena till reading this and it makes perfect sense! It has been a month or more since you posted this, so did you have it removed? If so how was it? What has happened since? Are your symptoms better? I was just at the Dr. today and she gave me Ortho tri cyclen lo to take with the mirena to help with the bleeding but if all these other symptoms are from the mirena and am going to call and schedule ASAP to have it removed! Thank for the light bulb moment and help!

Well, like Gemma's husband, I'd rather have vasectomy than to see my wife suffer because of the Mirena IUD. Tried it before and she was suffering a lot. Also learned in http://www.mirenalawsuit.us site that a multitude of women are experiencing the same.

Most women do feel several side effects after quitting their birth control. This may be due to the body trying to get back to the normal cycle. Birth control uses hormones to control the ovulation process, thus, it may affect the body once it is stopped. http://www.nuvaring-lawsuit.com/nuvaring-tria...

According to reports, in some cases, Mirena may cause grave effects to women, such as a serious condition known as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), life-threatening ectopic pregnancy, and perforation of the uterine wall. Consult your doctor right away if you experience any discomforts after the IUD removal. For more inputs about Mirena IUD, see http://www.mirenaiudlawsuit.net

I think its a good think you have your doctor check where the Mirena is sitting or get it removed, hopefully it will all turn out well.

Yes your symptoms sound like it might be caused by the Mirena IUD. For some women who persevere with the implant the side effects eventually go away, but for others who can't stand it they may experience some withdrawal side effects after the IUD is removed. It may be a good idea to familiarize yourself with Mirena's side effects to better understand how to manage them and what to expect. You may chat more at http://www.mirena-iud.net

I lasted 4 months with the mirena after being constantly told the sideaffects would settle but they only got worse, waking up always feeling sick, dizziness and disorientated during the day, never feeling completely withit, and then developing a terrible stiff neck shoulder and chest ache, not counting bleeding the whole time though not always much (but always). Had mirena removed a week ago, nausia, dizziness GONE within days, neck pain not as bad but still there, hopefully will finally go. feel more awake than i have for ages, mirena definately upset my whole system, so glad i finally had it removed

I had my mirena for 5 years before getting it removed in the middle of may and started a period at the end of the month. I was bleeding so heavily I was bleeding through tampons and pads about. every hour. I bleed two weeks. and for those weeks I was so drained. I thought I was going to die from the blood loss. I am trying to conceive a second child and so far no go, but it has only been about two months. I have been very moody, having migraines, nausea,I am getting reoccurring bv infections( which I heard can be caused by an iud) and I haven't had another period since. the end of May. I have taken pregnancy test but it is negative. Im starting to worry. The iud can cause infertility. I wish I never had the stupid thing.

Ive had the Mirena for almost 2 years. I bled for the first 7months. Then my period was very light, almost spotting for a whole week at a time. I cant stand the smell, a shower doesn't do any good. I am noticing a huge change in my mood. I become extremely sad and depress and cry all the time. My stomach is swollen, it has been since I had the Mirena. I gained about 10 pounds and overtime with exercise I lost the excess weight, but my stomach continues to be swollen. I pretty much have all the symptoms everyone else has. I am having the mirena removed in about a month and im worry that my period will be back to "normal" heavy and extremely painful.

I am going to have this MIRENA removed!!! Wish I could get in to DR sooner but I have to wait for scheduling. Anyway I have had numbness, constant urination for no good reason, headaches consistently worse, hair loss and thinning, weight gain 15lbs, shortness of breath, recently moderate to severe vision problems (always 20/20) and the worst is the anxiety and mood swings.I have about the best life any women could want to have very unstressful but yet I cry for no reason, get angry for no reason and its not fair to my wonderful husband and sweet daughter. I really thought I was losing my sanity somedays. Then it dawned on me these symptoms have been at an all time high. None of these I can explain. Started looking online and it was like a lightbulb coming on the dang MIRENA. These sypmtoms are really real and I miss my longer hair, the struggle with if I only exercised double it would help (it doesn't)and no sleeping, and being pissed of at the dumbest things to know its not me I am not going crazy. MIRENA is the only thing I have done different for the past 4 years/ As I said symptoms are at an all time high starting to become scary. I am rambling and could go on. I cant wait to get back to normal and will let this site know how I am doing once its removed... Anyone that says its not for them DONT do it DONT listen get it out, out out!!!!

I had the mirena for 4 yrs. Ive dealt with many of the same side effects mentioned here. I also had a basketball cyst removed along with my left ovary and fallopian tube removed due to the mirena. I do not recommend this stupid bc method. I believe its taken my fertility too. Along with my sanity. Its been only 3 days since the removal, but im already feeling better. :-)

The Mirena IUD should be recalled. You can read more about it here, and you can submit a claim with them if you have had adverse events. Has info about FDA warnings, adverse events, and claim form.

I have had the Mirena in for a little over 2 years. From the first period I had since insertion, my cycles have been at least 7 days and very heavy. Within the last year my symptoms have increased to getting migraines a week before my cycle, and also hair loss/thinning. Oh, and I can't forget my weight gain, mood swings, and also how tired I feel on a daily basis, all I want to do is lay down... I did get this devil removed today! So far I just feel very light cramping. I can't wait until I get back to "normal".
