I am on day 2 of Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. I am 17 years old. Does anyone know if age has anything to do with side effects? I am very under developed due to past eating disorders, past drug use and smoking. I'm terrified of weight gain and my I'm scared of how my body will react, considering all the abuse I've done to it. I was on the Depo Provera and the only side effect I had on that was the strange, annoying, 3 month long periods.

Hi! I started taking ortho the sunday after my period ended, is this ok because most people start the sunday of their period. Am I off track or is this ok?

Hello =) I just started on the Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. I have a 3 month old baby and was taking a different type of birth control (Micro somthing...=)) for the last month because my doctor reccommended it so i could continue to breastfeed. So, like i mentioned i have started this new pill and i just want to ask if anyone has had this experience and how it affected their breastmilk production? Thank you.

I was on Ortho tri cyclen lo for about 7 years and stopped six months ago for a break. Upon stopping I lost about 5 pounds, my cup size went from C to B, and i started getting acne on my face and back :-( One thing I noticed was that I'm much less emotional without the pill. In any case, I started the pill again exactly one month ago. My acne is clearing up, but I gained the weight back already (almost within two weeks, it's awful), my cup size is up again, and I'm back to being moody. I'm going to talk to my doctor about other options because I hate how moody this pill makes me.

I'm 18 and about to start college. I'm on the second round of OTC LO and i haven't had many side effects...Although my breasts have been sore for a few days and they seem to be growing. As far as the weight, other than bloating around my period, i have not gained any. Actually, i have lost about 6 lbs and my waist is slimmer...idk if that can be contributed to the pill but im not complaining. I'm not on the pill for pregnancy prevention persay as I am a virgin and not sexually active. I would naturally have about 5 very painful periods and year so i was put on the pill by my gyne. So far, the pill has really been great. My periods are shorter, lighter, and not a cramp in sight...Thumbs up for me!

It is ok to start the Sunday after your period - My OBGyn told me to do the same 4 months ago. If you read the instructions you get when buying the pills, you will see it stated there as well.

Hi, I was just wondering..... maybe someone could help me by guiding me through this.... this moth I began taking Ortho Tri-cyclen lo, this is my first time taking any type of pregnancy control, I just wanted to know if as soon as I take the first pill of the last greenish color would I be expecting my period on that same day or would it take from 2 to 3 days for my period to come?
Thanks!!!! I hope someone could answer to this question....
It is normal to get your period 2 days after starting the green pills. You have to give your body some time to get into the "green phase".

i've been on the ortho tri cyclen lo for now 25 days and i love it. yesterday was the first day of my period and i'm schok to see i had no cramps at all, it's light and i have 3 green pills left, hopefully it will stop on the third day. the only side effect i had so far my head was spinning while exercising, besides that everything is great, so far so good. i see all the negatives thing they say about it, i guess everyone is different.

I started taking Ortho tri-cyclen lo 3 months ago. My acne has cleared up and I haven't gained any weight. The only bad thing I noticed is I still get cramps and thats the main reason I got on birth control. My periods are weird now one time it will be heavy the next light. If I don't eat with it I do get nauseous.

Hello, Everyone.
I've used all the Ortho pills and unfortunately they all made me bleed too much. I've been on Zenchent brand which has regulated my periods; however, I have been having issues with my scalp ,and hair. I'm also bloated all the time. My scalp is very oily and smells bad and my hair is thinning!! Help ! Can anyone tell me if this is from the birth control pills because I think it is. I was perfectly fine before I started using birth control pills 5 years ago. Thank you.

It's common for yeast levels in women to fluctuate through the different stages of the month. Your problem could be that the pill is throwing your body off balance just enough to allow the yeast to develop too much.

I was on the regular Ortho TriCyclen for a year and a half and loved it, until for four months straight I had repetitive yeast infections that were unresponsive to any treatments and that got better during the week of the nonhormonal pills. The week of the first pills was typically okay, but as I moved into the second and third, that is when the yeast would flare up. And, my breasts were swelling up and becoming more tender. I hypothesized that perhaps my body had adjusted too much to the pill and was reacting to too much estrogen. Thus, I have just switched over to Ortho TriCyclen Lo. I have completed a month and so far no yeast, but a two-week period since i started spotting at the beginning of the third week of pills. Hopefully that will go away as my body adjusts. Hope this helps. Oh, and the only thing that did help the repetitive yeast was Boric Acid suppositories, not Diflucan, not Monistat, or anything else. Good luck.

Hey Lindsey, I was on that birth control and it did stop the horrible cramps I experienced. However, if I did not take the pill while eating I woke up the next morning feeling sick to my stomach, dizzy, and I blacked out once. So take it with food. It may not affect you the same. Good luck.
It's so true. It happened to me also. I stopped taking this pill.

I took ortho-tricylen lo for about 3 months, and was really unhappy with it. I've never been a negative, emotional person, but it made me feel lik crying all the time. I haven't had bad acne ever but this made me break out so bad! I gained weight, and it was mostly just because my appetite increased. My breasts went from a big A to a C in a few months, but I would take the A's over the stretch marks I have now. I switched birth control to levora, and it hasn't helped really at all, I guess I'm still in search of that allusive right pill for me...

i want to gain weight ima A cup too but i want to boost up to maybe a B or C. do this really work im on my 4th day. what week or month did ur boobs start gettin bigger?

I have been on Ortho Tri Cyclen for almost 5 years and never had a problem. The past 2 years I have been on the generics... for whatever reason for the past 11 months, each month I get yeast infections and CANNOT get rid of them, its so terrible... the first and the third week are the worst and then 2nd week is tolerable then the week I dont take the pills I'm absolutely fine! My gynocologist keeps telling me that its NOT the pills, but I know it is... I really enjoy the pill (before this) and I like knowing the day I get my period and having no cramps, but I cannot do this anymore. Has anyone ever had this?? What should I do? Should I stop the pill? I'm afraid because I dont know if there is any side effects of stopping or withdrawals or anything. I dont know why after all that time taking it that I would get a reaction like this. Plus now I have 2 long chin hairs which my doc said was from the hormones in the pills! YUCK! I dont know what to do....
i have the same problem wit the yeast infection thing and my doctor tell me the same thing your doctor told you but i stoll believe that it is the pill also..

There is no reason to blame the pill for your gainweight unless you dont take care of your body, i am very athletic and i have been on 4 different pills and I have not gained a pound cause I take care of myself, thats all you need to do, pills dont make you gain weight, it may just make your body reatain more water than normal but that's it.

I was on the Nuvaring for about 6 months. I had no sex drive while on it & it was extremly uncomfortable, especially during intercourse. And at random, it'd slip out. I went to my Gyno and she said I was putting it in right, but sometimes it slipping out slightly just happens. I had no other side effects really, but not having a sex drive sucked.
So I've just started Orth Lo...this is my second day on the pill and im anxious, nauseas (a lot), increased hunger (which im trying to control so I dont gain weight; which is one of my biggest fears), im also really tired w/out energy!! Ugh! why cant someone invent a BC that doesnt cause these other side effects!?:/ I hope these side effects get better after a couple of days, but if not what other BC's have worked for you??
