I am on the white pill this week and it's been 3 days since my period is suppose to start but no signs yet. I have been cramping, having headaches and i just wonder what the symptoms is about, pregnancy or pre menstrual symptoms. Kind of confused. I don't typically get my period until the 4th white pill, then have it for 2 days and I'm done. I'd say that everyone is a little different.

Ceilia wrote: <quoted text> I read somewhere that you can get blood clots from any of the oral contraceptives out there. With some people (who match your description of 24 years old as a non-smoker), certain pills will affect them in this way, and others won't. I recently got off of Ocella (generic form of [Yasmin?]) because it started giving me minor blood clots as well as extending my period to 19 days (and still going), and I fit the 24 non-smoker profile. There are a lot of factors to consider, like other medications you're taking, family medical history and personal medical history. You could have nothing bad in these medical histories and not taking any medication and some drugs will just about kill you when they won't affect anyone else in such a way. I thought I'd let everyone know that so they don't freak out without any cause. Some of them may be fine taking it. Personally this is my day two of it, so I can't speak for how well this pill does, save to say that at least the hormone difference from the other drug seems to be putting a slow stop to my period, we'll see, and hopefully I won't have the same troubles with the blood clots. I do hope you found something that worked out for you. I completely agree with you. I'm 32 and a smoker and have never had blood clots. Every pill works differently for different people. Ocella made me gain 20lbs in 2 months and I believe it had everything to do with water gain. I work out 6 days a week and eat extremely healthy (I'm working on the quitting smoking thing). I have also tried Alesse and I would have 10 day periods each time and break through bleeding. I got yeast infections atleast once a month. Everyone's symptoms are different, what works for one may not work for another. I've been on April for a few months now again and I won't change to anything else. My sex drive is great, I don't experience dryness, no mood swings, no acne, no bloating or headaches and bigger breasts!

Ok so I commented earlier about how Apri has made me crazy. It also has given me acne on my chest and back which I've never had in my life. I definitely wanna switch but i'm wondering what i should switch to. Is there anyone out there who had the same reaction to Apri as me and then switched and something else worked well? I wonder if since we reacted the same way to this one we will to something else...

I am starting Apri next month. I am 26 and this is my first time on the pill. I'm getting married in a few months and I want to go on to avoid having my period for the wedding/honeymoon. My biggest concern is the weight gain, as I am in the process of trying to lose 10lbs before the wedding. Can anyone tell me if going on Apri will conflict with my weight loss?

Amanda wrote: I have been on apri for 8 months now and I hate it. It is my first bc pill ever. I didn't know what to expect and felt well I guess everything is okay. But it hasn't. My husband states that I seem more withdrawn and also I noticed I have a poor sex drive. The only good thing I have noticed from it is that I can tell the exact hour and day I am doing to start. My periods are still 7 days long and I still have cramping that requires me to self medicate with some extra strenght tylenol. So not exactly having a "happy period" according to some other users of apri. I also had a lot of wt gain with it as well. I didn't change my exercise amt or even my diet and still gained at least 10 lbs or more. I also am very bloated and could definitely benefit from Activia! I just recently stopped apri last sunday and didn't start my new pack. I've already dropped 2 lbs. But I also am having some very weird side effects.. it's almost as if I were pregnant. I'm having morning sickness, nausea, back pains and headaches. Just wondering if anyone has noticed these or if I need to be checking into a pregnancy test. this is my second month on Apri and I also hate it. I was fine the first month, and this month i'm freaking out bc it feels like i'm pregnant! same exact symptoms you have. I took a test today and it was negative, but i still have 5 days before i expect my period. I'm going to a walkin clinic tonight after work.

I've been taking Desogen for 10 years nonstop for my severe acne and underweight issue. My skin is now clear and my weight went from 98 lbs to 110 lbs. My gynecologist refused to prescribe me Desogen because its progestin desogestrel was shown to be too dangerous. It's too bad. It's the ONLY bc pill I've tried that works so beautifully for acne. But the depression and low self-esteem that comes with it really sucks. I'm thinking of trying out Yasmin. Unfortunately I don't make enough money to afford this. Insurance doesn't cover the cost. Gets me fuming sometimes to think Viagra is covered.

I totally agree, Viagra is NOT a birth control pill by any means, and should NOT be covered!!! ALL birth control SHOULD be covered.

I am on Microgestin now and have been on it for two years, and before that I was on Junel for 2 years (almost the same thing). I used to get severe periods before the pill and I've noticed the past 8 months the severity was increasing again so I went to my doctor who said I could switch. I'm not switching to Apri. Has anyone ever done this and how has it reacted with your body? I have a tiny figure but gained about ten pounds when I started BC with Junel. My boobs got huge!(which was great!) but I am wondering if anyone else has gone from one to the other and what side effects or differences they noticed?

Apri will have different side affects for different people, so in my experience, I have had a difficult time switching to Apri, it made me emotional and moody. I gained weight too, in all the wrong places. I waited two months, with no changes, and asked to have my original Marvelon Pill covered under my health plan, and they approved it for me. Thank GOD!!! I hope it all works out for you.

I am on APri for PCOS. My hormones were really off, it disolved my HUGE cyst. It got rid of my acne, and my weight has not changed. I do however have no sex drive until my period, and headaches when i am on the placebos as well. I thought about going off, but the pain of cysts is not worth it. I was on tri-sprintec first, and it made me shake, dizzy, back out, have shortness of breath etc. So this low dose is best for me. And as always, this is going to effect everyone a bit differently. I know people who gain weight on depo- some lose it etc.. Its all your bodies chemistry.

I've currently been on Apri for 3 months now.. I haven't experienced many symptoms except for breast enlargement and mood swings, the mood swings have gotten better throughout the months however i still sometimes find myself crying and upset over the littlelest thing, I don't know if this is normal, does anyone else suffer from this?

I started using Apri and seemed to be ok the initial first few months. I'm 5'7" and was about 118 lbs before using it. I maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly. When I gained 10 full pounds with no change in diet I realized it was because of Apri. I actually started to have symptoms related to IBS which I had not experienced previous to using the pill. I have read similar experiences in addition to mine... so I don't recommend.
