Study: Pot May Improve Cognitive Functioning in Bipolar Disorder
Patients with bipolar I disorder performed better in neurocognitive assessments when they had a history of marijuana use.
PROBLEM: At least one prior study has shown than cannabis might have some positive effects for patients with bipolar disorder, and several others have reported that in patients with schizophrenia, marijuana use is actually associated with an improvement in neurocognitive functioning. While it is still unclear why the psychoactive drug might have this effect on patients with major psychiatric disorders, this study further investigates the association in bipolar disorder patients.

Cannabis doesn't improve cognitive function in anyone. Bipolar disorder is a problem of extremely high stimulation of 2 to 3 days and then profound doldrums or a depression lasting up to a week or more. Adding a toxin to a manic episode may seem to amaliarate symptoms in the short run, but the induction of psychoactive agents will just exacerbate the situation. If it does offer relief, then a modest amount may give solace. But when you discontinue, the depression returns. The high may make you giddy. But that much bacteria may cause COPD and a nasty cough as well. The THC is a "buzz". Healthy lungs and exercise will in the long run will do better.
