A few people have said I should double or triple diaper myself at night, since it would mean less work for my mum or sister (depending on who is changing me) and, eventually, less work for me. Has anyone else done this? As I have said before, I wear a cloth diaper and plastic pants at night. Should I stick with that? Or try multiple pads at once?

Back in the day multiple diapers was the norm at night. At bedtime mom spread out a diaper (flat) on the bed and placed a second directly over it. She then folded the diapers as one and pinned them in place. Towards the end she used a third.

To those of you saying about multiple terry nappies, I appreciate that you took the time to reply, but the idea is for me to be in multiple disposables overnight, to save time during my morning change (im incontinent, so I pee and poop during the night) and cloth diapers are a lot of hassle, especially when heavily soiled.

I get tripple diapered for bed every night. I wear two adult prefold diapers with a toddler prefold in between. Then I put my plastic panties on. When I wake up my pajamas and my bed are still dry.

Emily, there's no sense in doubling or tripling up on disposables as each one has a plastic or waterproof barrier on the outside. So whatever is in the innermost one will stay there and the others won't help unless you or someone want to take the time to make holes in, or remove the outer lining of the one or two outer ones. If you mean in terms of convenience when having to change during the night, I can't see how it would help as the one or two outer ones would have to come off first. So far as taking care of the solid waste, one diaper is sufficient. If there are issues with large urine volumes then you can get the booster pads and put as many as you feel are necessary inside the diaper. the booster pads are basically just the absorbent part of a diaper and have no waterproof liner on them. The other thing you can do is invest in some of the large bed pads, the non disposable version of chux. Get really large ones and use a half sheet or a regular flat sheet folded in half width wise and place that over the pad and tuck it under the mattress. This will keep the pad in place and keep it flat as you or someone is moving you on or off the bed. Google it on the internet and you can find a plethora of choices. Good luck.

Never thought of boosters, thanks Papa Slice :) The idea was to just get me cleaned and throw out the disposable diaper, instead of me being wiped, my messy coth diaper being gathered up, the contents being emptiedm then the diaper chucked in the wash.

Emily, Having had to deal with bedwetting as a babysitter and as a mom I can tell you that using cloth diapers and plastic pants for bedwetting is probably the best idea even if you are a heavy wetter. When our kids were younger nad wetting their beds they wore a double cloth diaper and plastic pants, that worked fine and provided a good absorbing surface under their plastic pants and we seldom had a leak. The diapers were a toddler prefold with a infant prefold folded into it, they were pinned and plastic pants worn over them, they were usually put on about a half hour before bedtime and as the kids grew older they could get themselves ready for bed and sometimes they wanted mommy to do it but not often.
When I was babysitting There were three kids that I sat for and they wet their beds and one at age 11 got a triple diaper inside of the plastic pants and the other two got the double diapers and plastic pants. It depends on how heavy you wet if a double or a triple would be best for you.
Hope this helps.
