This is a true story:
My son is 16, he is still bedwetting. He is a small sized n a heavy sleeper. My husband and i had tried many ways, no water after 7pm,we tried potty training him again by waking him up several times at night, sometimes my husband has to even carry him as he is deep sleeper. I have to wake up middle of the night to just change him as his diapers will be soaked by 3-4am. The reason why i have to change him is because he is a deep sleeper and wouldnt even get up while im changing him. Please help. Suggest the best diaper. No negative comments please, this is a true story and my husband and i needs immidiate help! The diaper we used now is not efficient, its always soaking and. Had bad leakage... thanks for the help and support in advance guys, and my son is not disabled its just he is a very deep sleeper ...

I can relate to your son's problem. I have wet my bed most of my life and sleep so deeply I have no recollection of wetting during the night. I wear thick terry nappies and snug fitting plastic pants which allow me to stay comfortable and sleep through until morning.I certainly don't get up to change during the night.

Get him a bedwetting alarm. It teaches the user to wake up before wetting the bed. It'll wake even the deepest sleepers. You can read more about it at the bedwetting store: http://bedwettingstore.com/learning-center-be...

I had one of those horrible things when I was a kid. By thetime I had woken up I had soaked the bed and the whole house had been woken up. In the end my parents decided they would rather I just slept through my wetting and dealt with any wet sheets in the morning.

Hi Elise. You might want to see if you can get your son scheduled for a sleep study. I've heard of a similar story where it turned out that the child did in fact have a sleep disorder and would go in to stage 4 (deep sleep) and stay there most of the night. The usual pattern of sleep is 5 stages and cycles through about every 90 minutes during the night. What people don't realize is that most kids who wet the bed do so several times a night. For more on this and other ideas, check out this thread that I wrote some time ago. If protection won't work, consider a condom catheter to a bedside bag. It is NON invasive and may be an alternative. The other thing is that it will be good for him as it will provide a bit more independence for him. Before going to that, make sure that you are using protective garments that are meant for adult nighttime use. The Goodnites/Drynites just won't work. There are also booster pads that will help increase the capacity of the garments. The thread: http://www.topix.com/forum/health/bedwetting/... Please let us know how things are going.

Hey there Elise,

Your comment says your in Singapore? I'm not sure what products are availalbe in singapore but I do have a website that reviews different kinds of adult, teen and youth diapers that are out there.

It sounds like your son is a really deep sleeper and a very heavy wetter.

Dry 24/7's made by Dry Care are great for heavy wetters but I'm not sure you can get them over there. You may have better luck with Abena Diapers as they are a European brand.

These are both top of the line, highly absorbent disposable diapers.

If these are unavailable in your part of the world I would very much be interested in brands that are available as I have visitors from all over the world and would like to be able to provide them with quality reviews on what is available to them.

I soak myself every night. Mom got me cloth prefold diapers and plastic panties. I get double diapered for bed. I look like a two year old but my bed stays dry. When i go downstairs in the morning mom;'s girlfriends all can tell I'm soaked. They tell me its feet in the air time!

All my mothers friends and our family knew I wet the bed but at least they never embarrassed me like that.

I don't mind them teasing me. They're pretty cool. Its only embarassing when i'm soiled but I don't do that very often. I don't like them seeing me when my bottom is messy. Th toddlers don't care though. They just squat and giggle when they soil.

Have you taken him to see a doctor about this? Also, what diapers/nappies does he use at the moment?

Cloth diapers with plastic pants work the best. You can either put a small one in the middle or double them up and there will be no leaks during the night.

I have had the problem for years and this is the best solution to disposable diapers that have little side coverage.
