Hi everyone,
Sound managed the end of the school year without anyone knowing at school that I was wearing diapers which was such a good thing.
The only problem is that I thought the wetting was something I was just going to outgrow but the doctor diagnosed me with polyuria which means I have an overflow of urine and there is little in the wy of treatment. I just feel so alone.

Tammy, not to worry you but there are a number of different reasons for polyuria. Among them, diabetes mellitus, and diabetes insipidus. Diabetes mellitus is the diabetes that we all think of which is about the lack of insulin produced by the body. Diabetes insipidus has to do with either the failure of the body to produce ADH (anti diuretic hormone). Adh is what helps regulate how much urine the kidneys produce. This can also be a failure of the kidneys to respond to ADH. DI is usually accompanied by ectreme thirst along with the high urine output. Forcing the person to restrict there fluid intake will not help the output and can in fact be dangerous as they can become severely dehydrated. It's also known as "water diabetes". If your doctor has not already checked you out for why you have DI, then you need to get him/her to do it. You haven't said much about it, so perhaps they already have. If you haven't already, check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyuria

Itis one thirty in the morning and I have just soaked my diaper and it has leaked thru onto my pajamas and bedding. Right now I feel so alone. It seems there is no longer anyone who comes to this board that cares. I just need to find someone who cares enough to share their frustrations with me.

Hi everyone,
I just got back from summer camp it was horrible! I usually stay in a cabin with my sister and other girls our age but because of my needing diapers, I was put in a special needs cabin. I was with campers with ad/hd and other issues. None of my old camper friends talked to me. The worst was having to wear swim diapers under my bathing suit and everyone laughing at me.

Hi Tammy, sorry to hear of your experience. I'm surprised that the camp would do that to you. I don't understand why the swim diapers unless you are also bowel incontinent. That's really what swim diapers are for. It makes no sense to have someone wear a diaper for swimming just for problems like polyuria and trouble controlling the bladder. So far as you friends go, I guess you know now who your real friends are. But think about this, some of them may have been acting out of their own fear of not wanting to be ostracized by others for being friendly with you. Also, some of the reactions may have been from being uncomfortable with the situation themselves. But the biggest thing is that you can chalk this up to maturity, or a lack of it. Don't let this get you down. You can be disappointed that you didn't have the good time you expected, but try to focus on what if anything you enjoyed about the time there. Don't take any of it personally as I'm sure it wasn't. It also sounds as if there could have been better communication between the camp staff and your parents about the situation and perhaps it could have been handled much better. It all might seem a big and bad thing, but it's only one drop of water in an ocean in terms of your life.

Question: if you were at camp before and everyone knows you, why did you get placed in a "special cabin" this year? Swim diapers are not really that bad and if you are really careful you should have no problems changing or having anyone notice you are wearing them. I say this from my own experience. Anyway, sounds like you need to change over to a new camp next year.

I didn't say that, what I said i as far as daytime wetting goes, we sweet charming and beautiful young girls have more problems than you guys. That don't mean we all wear diapers , pullups etc. Some of the girls have slight leakage and don't wear any protection. Have a great day. This message was sent by a sweet, adorable and charming young lady who is about to head back to college in a few days and still writing a paper on social behavior for one of my classes.
