This article has some incorrect information. First, there is an argument that can be made that the emergence of computers has actually made sitting up straight much easier than while writing with pen and paper. It all has to do with the angle of the material being used. Try sitting up straight while writing on paper compared to typing on a computer. Difficult! Second, the upper traps actually elevate the scapula and assist in drawing the head forward. The LOWER traps are responsible for scapular depression, and the mid traps (but more rhomboids actually) are responsible for scapular retraction. Upper traps and levator scapula are typically overused and "locked long" because of slouching.
