Hi, My boyfriend has had chronic back pain for over 3 years and has been to so many doctors that hes ready to give up. He has pain on the right side of his low back that radiates to his side. He says its a horrible stabbing pain that can make him double over in pain. He has been to back specialists, nerologist, he has done physical therapy, seen many normal MDs to see if they think anything is up but nothing has come up. He has had blood tests and went to get an ultrasound on his gall bladder because he has the symptoms of having gall bladder problems. But that cheacked out normal too. He has had an MRI done on his low back and mid back. Also he has had a ct scan done with contrast. He has had kidney stones in the past but now all that checks out. He's been to a chiro who has adjusted him and done acupunture to the area. The Physical Therapy and Chrio helped but the pain always came back. All the doctors say his scans come up normal and its really frustrating to him and thinks that maybe its all in his head. Other symptoms he has are: Trouble sleeping, constipation, gas, bloating, pain in the area below rib cage, on different medications for bipolar, aniexty, and ADD. Doctors check the levels of meds in his system to make sure hes ok and that checks out too. So I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what it could be.
Thanks!

When all of the tests keep coming up negative, sooner or later you have to start believing them, and start looking for other causes of the pain.

Sometimes pain can be caused by the thoughts we think. Dr.John Sarno has had tremendous success treating people with Tension Myositis Syndrome.

If your boyfriend is open minded enough to consider other possibilities you can read more about Tension Myositis Syndrome at:

Good Luck

Hi,
I've used the easaway pad for my back pain and it works wonders the results were unbelievable. They're cheap easy to use and very comforting. They are available at www.easaway.co.uk
I'm sure you'll be as happy as I was.

I've had the same thing for four years. Doctors are finding nothing and I'm only 17 going on 18 right now. I probably won't graduate because it hurts way too much to go to school and even stay for the whole day. I just got my first job and have to quit now. No one is giving me answers. I've been to physical therapy many times and had multiple X-rays and still nothing. My life is going down the drain. Blood work is fine everything checks out as normal yet I can barely walk.

The pain could be psychological or stress related. It could be a problem with his liver as that could sometimes translate to the back. Did your boyfriend have his liver checked out? Sometimes with all the medication you mentioned that he's been taking, his drug toxicity levels may be normal but it may be too much to handle for his liver and/or kidney particularly if he has liver cirrhosis or some thing that might involve his liver having to metabolize the meds he's always taking. It's also possible that any pain he may still have could be related to some nerve involvement from somewhere else in his CNS/PNS but translates to pain in his lower back area.

I surprise that what kind of doctor you visited that they could not able to understand the situation. The way you have mentioned here is clearly saying that your boy friend is having probability of arthritis so it's better to go for a Rheumatologist.
