About the only thing the media will result in is opening general ed parents eyes that other parents expect a Pre K school to take a child with a disability on a field trip no matter what (when the parent admits the child does disrupts the class), without a trained 1:1 Para and having 2 days to arrange to go along with on the field trip. Field trips are very difficult for those on the spectrum, more so at age 5. I cant tell you how many parents I know who kept their kids home than put them through that, or they go with and sit with their child on the bus.
You don't go to the media and you don't make yourself and the child's name public. It brings negative attention to the child that will follow them through out their educational years.

I also have a Autistic son and if that was my kid I would have did the same thang.and there was a very similar case with a different child but that parent chose to leave Dayton instead of doing what PJ did the right thang and I'm happy to see a parent finally stepping up and doing something about Dayton City School its been needing to happen for awhile now.And that's why my son goes to Rhea Central and loves it.

DO YOU LIVE HERE? IF YOU DONT, THEN YOUR COMMENTS ARE NOT WANTED OR NEEDED. SHE WAS MAKING OTHERS AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND ANOTHER NEWS CHANNEL CONTACTED ADA AND THEY SAID ON AIR THAT THIS CHILD'S RIGHTS WERE INDEED VIOLATED. YOUR COMMENTS ARE NOT NEEDED OE WANTED.

Shut the hell up Brenda. Friend is the only voice of any sense at all in this whole "my child is a victim" thread!

Dear Mike and Brenda, You and "the gang" are going down. ADA has told the mother that SHE did nothing wrong.. The school knowingly did WRONG and thought they could get away with it once again!
You got schooled by a poor girl named PJ from the PJ's.. Oh I would be a little humiliated as well.

Ahhhh, you don't 'contact' ADA. Hello. It's an act, and quite a few pages long. You read it and interpret it.
And so sorry, no one can depict who can comment and who cannot. I'm not the one who posted it on this autism forum, which is seen every where, including other countries. Don't want differeing opinions, either don't read them or don't go to the media.

You don't go to the media. Anyone knows you go through Due Process. Those who don't go through Due Process where both sides can be heard is only in it for the poor me when they go to the media and can only present a one sided version. Now I'd have a different opinion had the parent remained anonymous, which they had a perfect right to maintain and still air it in the media and not allow the child's photo. It's difficult that anyone would agree they'd do they same thing and open them and their vulnerable disabled child to any perp out there and further sigma.
Regardless of what kind of teachers they are or the kind of school it is, it's a cheap shot because they know the school cannot comment. The parent did have options to find resolution to that situation, and we're talking Pre K and a field trip to a produce market. This is small apples compared to the rights of a child in public education.

Winnipeg, you're not fooling anyone. Anyone on the autism forum knows you're one and the same of post #8, of which was the cruelest of all things to tell any parent of their child. You called another persons child damaged. How does it feel to find out the child never had any vaccines at all???

I agree with friend. There was a much better why to handle this. There was no need to put yourself and your child out there like this. This is very sad. This is a good example of the way people in Rhea county behave. They have this "leap before you look" mentality. I have a child that is different and I know his limits. Sometimes you need to stop and think about what is really best for your child. This might have been too much stimulation for a child on the spectrum. Maybe the teachers didn't think the child was ready for this kind of trip without her parent or at all. Some children could not handle things like this. It could have caused a meltdown. We don't know the severity of this child's autism.

I'm not seeing any paranoia. Lol

He's an anti vaxxer who has already posted here, and other than claiming the child was vaccine damaged (which had nothing to do with the issue) then continues to adds nothing to the topic but attacks on me.
He is no random person and he's not fooling anyone.

That was for the Mother to decide NOT the teacher. When the school accepts enrollment then it is SUPPOSE to accept the child and its disability because its the LAW. A lady affiliated with ADA contacted the news channel and did state the school is in the WRONG and DID break the law .. So why are these ppl prosecuting this young mother for making a statement to this school that they can NOT do this!!
No child left behind means just that.. No ONE even one that this school sees as a hassle and headache!!

The fact of matter is a teacher and kids being mean to a kid with a disability. If was your kid you wouldn't like it. It is wrong and a teacher has no business doing that nor to let it go on. That's the problem we have teachers think they better and all that. I guess board of education need know what happen. Dnt you think?

People we need step up and do not let people run over kids with disability. Guess the teacher thinks it is cute. There is alot cold hearted people out there. If you had love one with any kind of a disability you wouldn't like it one bit. You need sit back and think how is that right. Something needs be done that parent or parents need go higher up ladder make it well known. You might need let nashville know. You bet I would if I had kid was being mistreated.... that is what moms do and is your job as a MOM......

People go to the media to get answers and something done about it. Also to get word out about it. If a teacher can't handle all kids with all disabilities then they dnt needs to be er dnt cha think? Teachers dnt want teach they wants the smart kids so they dnt have works with them.

Many people use the word hello, hello!Let me just show you how foolish you are. Take not I am not hiding my location. I don't live in the town it shows, either. My town is too small for Topix to locate. No, I don't live in that state where this article is from. This is posted in the autism forum, so any one from any country can see it. Yes, I do have a child with autism, not aspergers, not high function. Autism.

So next time before you assume and accuse another of who they are not, think before you embarrass yourself on an open forum.

You are a LIAR! U are NOT a parent!! I have NEVER encountered another parent with the attitude that u have and I have been around, lady!! Even if u disagree with how the mother handled this .. still another parent offers support or alternatives to one another on what to do.. I have NEVER encountered another parent that bashes another for how they handled a situation. This mother is a low income single mother who really needs help on what or how to deal with her child .. and the way the school treated her child is wrong.. at least this young mother has enough sense to know that much!!
