What a great kid, when most his age would pay no attention. Looks like he has a pretty good life to me, and handles himself well during a medical emergency.

I think he must have developed a strong bond with his aide. Kids like him or my daughter have much deeper relationships with adults (parents, aides etc) than their peers. It is not hard to imagine that they are aware when something is wrong with their adult aide. What is remarkable is that he knew what to do.

My son cant stand any of his Para's :) and his change all the time.
I think this boy developed a strong connection to diabetic reactions, to know the signs. One of my sisters was born with type one, and at that age I'd never be able to recognize her going into a reaction, let along what to do or the true importance of it. Even when I became an adult, it's wasn't always easy to realize she was having a reaction.
I think this boy, having the ability to memorize important things of his interest, memorized the signs.
It just goes to show, disability or not, this kid was a hero and he has a bright future.

Yes, my school has a pool of aides that work with my daughter. Luckily all barr one are really good. There one lady who I swear is an Aspie herself who alsways looks grumpy. Last year my daughter was allocated a lady (happened to be Asian) who was quite "hands off" and uncommunicative. One day my daughter was playing dangerously near the road with the aide nowhere in sight. I collected her and looked for the aide who was busy gossiping with a teacher. The aide had the gall to claim it was my fault because I pick my daughter near the road and I should park further away. I complaiend to the principal and the lady was promptly sacked for endangering my daughter.

Yes there is great potential in kids with autism, in the future with many professional jobs moving online there is greater potential.

Typical story that implies these children have lessor intelligence and when they do some minor thing its supposed to be special. A good news story that ignores the vaccine injury and focuses on the nonsense.
