There are 22 comments on the Medical Daily story from Jul 21, 2014, titled Autism Risks Determined Most By Genetic Variants, Not Necessarily The Environment. In it, Medical Daily reports that:

The bulk of risk factors underlying autism may be based less on rare gene mutation than on common genetic variation, a new joint international study finds.

Yea mutatios from aluminum, formaldehyde and thimerosal is a cocktail of multiple vacinations.

Wrong. The study never addressed triggers. They addressed cause. 1.6 million is large study, and funny that vaccines is even mentioned by Ross Coe when he likely doesn't know anything about Sweden's vaccines. What the articles are stating is this study brings into serious doubt previous claims that vaccinations or any environmental source caused autism, likewise the books that claim vaccinations caused autism are now considered to be less than factual, even though the rest of the world already knew that.

Thimerosal hasn't been in childhood vaccines for years. Aluminum exposure comes from many sources and is the most abundant substance of the earths crust, and it's not in all vaccines nor is it the same compund. Formaldhyde is produced naturally in the body as well as in plants and food like pears.

It's just another bad day for anti vaxxers, of which articles about this large study are now considering those to be greedy people wanting to sue anyone for that huge payday.

So is it the vaccination, or the preservatives that are causing problems?

Are there vaccinations that do not have these preservatives?

If we stopped providing vaccinations right now, are you concerned about the deaths that will occur?

Are you old enough to remember the Polio Epidemic?

It was pretty scary.

Multiply that times a million and you would not like that very much.

There is a reason we have vaccinations.

It would be great if we could find the trigger for Autism and put a stop to it, but to stop vaccinating would bring about sickness on a scale that you would not want to imagine.

I do not want to turn the clock back to the 1600's when many children did not reach their second birthday.

It seems that the chicken littles forget that stuff like formaldehyde is naturally produced in fruits like pears, apples, & carrots to name a few. In fact the amounts produced by fruits are higher than what is in vaccines.
.
http://www.cafemom.com/answers/878093/A_norma... Regular bread has about 10 times as much formaldehyde as in kid's vaccines, spinach has up to 40 times as much and smoked ham has over 1000 times as much formaldehyde as in kid's vaccines.(see link: formaldehyde in food) Formaldehyde is an essential naturally produced substance in many living things (including humans).

They also claim that vaccines are just a ploy for medical companies to get more money. Actually the companies make MORE money from those who refuse to vaccinate and have to go in time after time to have the doctor write up a prescription for a antibiotic and or other medicine.
.
Those who vaccinate don't have to spend as much time at the doctors. Nor do they have to spend as much money to get well.

The thing is, anti vaxxers come upon a large study such as this and what do they do? Offer studies to support their claim? No. They expect the public to believe that just because there's no evidence to support their claims, that doesn't mean the claim is unfounded. Most people aren't so afriad of aluminum, formaldehyde and thimerosal. It's the normal scare tactic anti vaxxers attempt.

They act like all the chemicals they are panicked about are man made. When they are actually found in nature.

And quite often in the various foods we eat. As well even what we collect in their various forms to make a living and or to even live in.

If they were as dangerous as these chicken littles would have us believe in. Humans would NOT have survived as long as a species. Heck, no life form would have survived.

Only anti vaxxers would think injecting into muscle would be worse than ingesting. And even better, it shows how little they understand about biology of the human body and the human body functions. And even better, they have no evidence that any vaccine injection causes autism and this study is evidence vaccines do not cause autism. Wouldn't it be nice if anti vaxxers could for once dazzle everyone with more than a mere short sentence of no value and multiple name changes?

Sangelia has a valid point. These substances have been part of earth for eons. There are many toxins that are natural to earth and the environment. Humans would have died out a loooong time ago and many did due to viruses and bacteria infections that were also 'natural'. No injection or ingestion required. All you had to do was breathe in the germs.

Ross Coe fails to understand that every substance in the world (including water even) is toxic if the dosage is high enough. He also thinks that injection is far worse than ingestion. Even the most toxic substance in the world, i.e Botulinum Toxin (commonly known as Botox) is used medicinally. It is Injected into kids with Cerebral Palsy at very low concentrations to reduce spasticity in muscles, and is very effective, any side effects being extremely rare and very mild. Similarly, substances such as formaldehyde and thimerosal found in some vaccines are also used in very low and safe concentrations.

Um, that was not a helpful response. You did not answer any questions.

And you did not seem to address or care about the diseases that are known to kill children.

Although, I applaud the need to question some things and to have the right to express concerns, this campaign to avoid vaccinations could really scare caring and confused parents into making a very bad choice with serious ramifications.

Whopping cough is horrible. A horrible way to die. Have watched parents suffer with the child. It is sadness that is so profound that words cannot describe it.

And this was not the act of parents not vaccinating their baby. Babies cannot be vaccinated early one, they are dependent upon others to vaccinate to create a herd immunity.

What ever happened to the considerations for the greater good?

Sorry I don't support harming 1 in 68 or worse (1 in 27) for the good of those lucky enough to not become autistic. the rest become ADHD and more. Only a very disturbed person doesn't care and makes excuses for vaccines.

Well, you went out of your way to be insulting, and that was not necessary. I am asking questions, not trying to be a blanket advocate for vaccines. Just trying to understand. And just trying to process the magnitude of the situation.

Have you been keeping up with the Ebola epidemic in Africa?

If a vaccine were ever created for such a devastating virus, would you really be against it?

I really hope that disease can be contained and eradicated. Because if it is not, the Early 1900 flu epidemic will seem very tame compared to this monster if it makes its way around the world.

To a anti-vaxxer. No matter what illness a vaccine was created to battle. They would not want it used to fight that illness.
.
In many ways they are darwinists. Since a vaccine helps out those that would have been otherwise weeded out due to their poor immunity to a given disease. By giving them the ability to fight off the disease.

Don't let the insults bother you. Ross Coe's primary intent is to provoke readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion, and most always he fails to do that but it never stops him from trying.

He continues to bring up the autism rates of the USA. What he doesn't reveal is of those autism rates is that most are not the scary picture of autism many like to depict. More than half of that horrible autism rate is considered mild. They all have bright futures. My own child has a bright future and he is a great kid, autism and all. Yet Ross Coe supports not using vaccines with zilch to support his claims. Only a very disturbed person would attempt to change the publics vaccines choice on no science to back up their claims. That would be comparable to having a bunch of kids in your car while you drive blind folded. He could no more predict who would die in that car than he could of those 10 infants who died in this modern age of pertussis. Those who were infected with pertussis exposed their germs to those babies. No other way for those babies to contract it.

Autism is not so scary, nor is it deadly. Childhood dieases are scary and they are deadly. This study of this article shows 60 percent of autism is genetically inherited through gene mutations and directly points away from vaccines, even that of what parents may have had in vaccines. It's a bad day for anti vaxxers and such a study will bring out the worst in them. The scary thing about this is the potential for genetic testing prior to conception and avioding pregnancy if one carries the genes. That's what we should be discussing. Vaccines is so off topic.

friend can't even comprehend what it says. The Genome project at best considered 20% inherited but it was more in tune with 3-9 %. 60% is bunk and its not the inherited genetic brand, its the caused/regressive brand.
