Almost 4 weeks since my surgery. Back in the hospital for a second time again for over a week. My fistula was closing well and I was set for my last CT scan to see if I could leave Friday. Then last night the pain returned and flooded again with fluid. I've been here over a week now, not allowed to eat or drink and I'm really super depressed. There is no end in sight, I still have 4 raging infections

The pain from the gas and BM are worse than the pain in the belly.

Yeah course, all your insides are still sore from the incisions, it wears off after around ten days, well at least mine did. 2 weeks later my cuts are nearly fully healed and im mobile again

Early Saturday morning I wake up with a sharp pain on the right side of my lower abdomen. After crying for 30 mins in pain, I was driven to the E.R. After arriving, blood test, urine sample and a cat scan, they came back and said I needed to have my appendix removed. A couple hours later I was in the operating room having my appendix removed. Saturday night I was placed in my room where I spent Saturday night and Sunday and most of monday until around 6 pm when I was finally released to go home. Still in pain of course. I've been trying to take it easy but get tired of laying down all the time. I'm experiencing pain from the insision sights (I think it's from the staples). I'm feeling gassy but am not able to go number 2. I occasionally get a sharp pain when breathing while im laying down on my right side toward by back... I think it's just backed up gas. I'm supposed to go back for a check up on Monday, is there anything I can do between now and then to ease the pain and get my bowls moving?

Wow, you guys must either be real young and heal fast, or have a very high tolerance for pain. I had my appendix removed 12 days ago and I am still in a lot of pain. Lots of bloating. Nights are horrible, can't sleep because of pain on right side. Has anyone else had these symptoms? How long did they last? I thought having my appendix removed was going to make me feel better, not worse.
I feel your pain. I just had mine removed Valentine's Day night..yay, happy Valentine's Day!! Bloated, belly button bruised and very very sore. Still in much pain and as you said, can't sleep due to pain in right side and even when I try to get out of bed it is quite a sight to see. So painful I have to try to crawl and squirm around to get in the right position to get out of bed. Walking hurts a lot too at first, but after a while it gets better. Then, I sit down or lay down and go through it all over again when I get up. I was told the pain would go away very fast but have now learned that it could last for many days even weeks..ugh!!!! Throat is so sore due to the breathing tube they put in during surgery...still have wicked gas and no bowel movement yet; I count that as a blessing because it hurts to even try to sit down to go pee...LOL

I had mine out 2 weeks ago and still have pain that comes and goes. The whole bowel movement thing is due partly to pain medication and I think Anestitia (sp?). I was told to not lift anything 15lbs. and over for a month. So I'm sure it takes at least that to heal on the inside. I had laproscopic surgery. I know a nurse and she said during that specific procedure they blow your stomach up w/gas so that they can see what they are doing and get in there. She said it can move things around and sometimes make u feel bruised all over. Just take it easy everyone, I know it's hard, trust me, but we don't want to end up there again!!:)
Lisa,
It is very hard but understandable. When your insides have so much done to them it does take time to heal but it takes a lot of patience too especially when you really want to do things that you can't for longer than you would like. I am used to moving around and not being able to bend over without being in such pain is so irritating. I would just like to be able to at least sit in my recliner or get into and out of bed with some comfort, but NOT!! Will just grin and bare it for as long as I have to. I do keep getting up and walking around and they told me that even if I wanted to go outside and walk around, by all means, do so. This also helps with the gas problem as movement helps to get it out and ease the bloating a bit at a time. Thanks for your input.. Be well everyone. I for one most certainly don't want to go back there.:)

I had my op on the 5th of Febrary and I was distcharged the next day and was in a little bit of pain for the next 3 days but I also took barely any painkillers (for person reasons) after that I was start to walk straighter and after the week was over I was back in school but I was in a suport center for most of the time with people carring my bag for me. The next week I carred my bag and was fine. Its now 3 weeks after my op and I'm desprate to play tennis and to do sit ups, press ups ext again but I have no idea if I should or not they told me to wait for a week any advise would be helpful

I had my appendix removed 4weeks ago three small incisions. I went back to work about a week later thanks to bills. I'm an stna so I do lift people in a nursing home. My stomach is more sore today than 2weeks ago above my bellybutton, there is also what feels like a hard knot there when I push on it. Worried about what it could be? Don't know if normal, don't want to go to doctor unless need be no insurance!

Had appendix surgery 6 months ago. First 2 days was most painfully but with the help of injections could sleep. Had difficulties to stand up. Don't even thinked about goin to WC. In 3 day tried to go to WC constantly. In 4 day could slowly walk and also last day in hospital. Recovery continued approximately month. I didn't lift up heavy things, more than 5 kg. After month all pains completely gone away. I think that for me it wasn't the most easy recovery period cause it a lot depends on body.
