Hello everyone!
So I had my appendix taken out 2 weeks ago and things seemed to be getting better every day until last night. The morning before I had surgery I went to the bathroom to urinate and I had the worst cramping feeling bottom right of abdomen area. I had the same thing about 2am today, but this time I caught if before I actually fainted. Went and saw the dr. Again today. He thinks I am just having some pain like this since my appendix was so inflamed. Has this happened to anyone else? Did it get better?

I am now 10 weeks pregnant, and had my appendix removed 3 weeks ago. I still have some pain also, I was very active before working as a CNA, and now I get completely sore if I do even half of what I use to be able to do. I'm a little worried too if I'll have to have a c-section also now... Anyone know? I had major pain on my left side last night, and pains on the right side today. Man I didn't think it was gonna take this long to recover!

Hi I had my appendix out on my 30th birthday on 31st of October 2012 after surgery I had some complications I was due to leave hospital the following day but didn't as the lefft side of my body swelled up like a balloon and they thought that I had a blood clot as I have had on before but after I had a scan they noticiced I had a bleed inside me but that eventually sorted itself out after the medication the thing I'm writing about is that I've got some stiching hanging out of my belly button which is very painful its been 3 weeks since my op and wondered if thus was normal as I thought they just glued my wounds back together???
I had mine removed the day before you, yay! They told me they used disolvable stitches on the inside of me, so I'd definitely question why there's stitches on the outside!

I awoke at 2 am with a fever and decided to get up and urininate with some discomfort. The pain was below my belly button and I thought I might have a possible kidney or bladder infection. I wasn't sure because I've had neither of these problems before. I laid back down for a few hours and the pains had gotten worse. I decided to drive to the ER. After explaining my symptoms a cat scan revealed my appendix had burst. An emergency operation removed the appendix and the toxins were in a remote area and done laporscopically. The Dr. said if I had waited 8 more hours the infection would have spread and peritinitius would have made this a major ordeal. After 5 days of antibiotic my infection and fever were gone and I'm home recovering. It's been a few weeks and slowly getting better. I was told I saved my life by going to the ER. I hope if anyone has these indicators don't hesitate to get this checked out. I'm very lucky and looking forward to the Christmas Holidays just grateful to be here...R

Had surgery done 7 weeks ago now, getting sharp shooting pains, mood swings, and bloating too. Thought it was the driving, going over all those bumps that's irritating muscles!!!
. I'm with you Cheryl! I'm only 26 yrs old but am 32 wks pregnant with my 4 th child and had my appendix removed almost 4 weeks ago, the first fortnight was excruciating, I spent 5 days in hospital on a morphine drip and endone tablets, then home to bed where I could barely move for the following week, would cry in pain every time I stood or sat,(and I have a very high pain threshold, had 3 big babies naturally and drug free) but this pain was the worst I have ever felt! I started to feel ok about 5 days ago felt significantly better but last 2 days have had very bad pain under my scar (about 5 inches long, old school surgery) and have had some vomiting and diarrhea on and off since surgery... Still can't sleep on my side, have gone to roll over in my sleep a few times and yelled out in pain... Have been reading a lot o the above online and am Scared stiff that this is going to continue indefinitely.... It's bloody awful!!!

Hi, I had emergency lapriscopic surgery Monday night around 11pm. I was released from the hospital on Tuesday around 11am. I have been doing my best to eat clear, easy digestable foods (Jello, Apple sauce), and drinking lots of water/apple juice. I have three incisions, but the only one that has any pain is the one in my belly button? I was given T3s, and even on them the incision in my belly button hurts a little bit. I think this could be due to the fact that I am still really bloated. I have tried to walk around as much as I can, but it is really painful, as I cannot even stand upright (I'm hunched over). I haven't had a bowel movement yet, but this could also be due to the fact that I had not eaten in well over 24hrs before my surgery (when I went into the emergency room they told me I wasn't aloud to eat in case I had to get surgery).

I was really just wondering if I would maybe be able to eat something a little more solid like mashed potatoes? I don't want to over do it, and would like advice from someone who maybe had a similar situation as me.

Hi Kate: My husband was in the same situation as you. He was on a soft diet for two days after his surgery. I would think you should be able to eat eggs, toast, mashed potatoes and esay to digest foods by now. But everyone is different. Try taking a stool softener with the meal to help with any constapation you have have once you start eating solids.- Good Luck!

I need some input: 5 years ago my appendix ruptured and I had to have emergency surgery. Now I am experiencing off and on tremendous pain in that area. I am 47 and have had a full historectomy so I know it is not anything like that. Does anyone know what can be causing it or what I can do. I take pain killers for other reasons, and that is not helping at all.

Hi guys

Same feeling after a week...little but bloated tummy and pain due to gas and in stitching part bit more pain with movement of that part.

Eating high fibre stuff can help like wheat bix.
But ya pain on and off.

I am only concerned about my weight lifting on future and would it affect me further if I do the weight lifting of about 15kgs which I used to do before surgery?

Thanks
Kevin

Had my appendix out eight days ago. Symptoms came on so sudden it was unreal. I had gone to the gym at 5 pm, ate dinner with my wife at 6:30 and went home and took a short nap. By 10 pm worst stomach I've ever had. Threw up till 5 am Wednesday. In the ER by 6 am (54 years old, very fit, not sick a day in my life). After a CT, diagnosis was confirmed by 8 am. By the time surgery was scheduled at 4 pm, appendix ruptured. Dr used 6 liters of fluid to clean abdomen. Couldn't pee by 11:30 so they inserted a catheter which is a true test of your manhood. Left hospital at 10 am Thursday feeling pretty good, but with a drain tube which came out yesterday, the second test of manhood.in past week. All is well. Fairly sore, but had a beer and some chicken wings this evening. Morale to the story: life can change on a dime. Knowing my usual reluctance to go to the Dr or acknowledge that I'm not 25 any longer, it's a wonder I didn't try to tough this one out, and I can't even what the result of that would have been. Good luck to every one.

I had my appendix out on the 17th of December at 11am, this was my first and I hope last surgery I was crying all the way down to the room I had been in and out of hospital for 2 weeks and the hospital couldn't see anything on the scans they did so they got me in for a laparoscopy they woke me up saying they had to remove my appendix as it was badly infected In my blood tests I had no infection ao they were shocked! I had key hole surgery and can't feel the cut on me left side nor the one on my lower stomach but the one on my belly button is so so so bad hope that's normal- standing up and getting up from the bed is so bad! I have been told in a few days I will be fine but it's now Wednesday and I'm still in the same amount of pain as the surgery day just my belly button. I'm home now and last night in my own bed was AMAZING Christmas soon, good luck to anyone going through this pain with me and hope you all get better! Any one who is gonna have this done I was such a chicken but when I came back from surgery I felt like a fool for being so scared so you will be fine :-)

Had laposcopic surgery for appendix 2 wks ago. Took dulcolax & prune juice every time I took a pain pill to avoid constipation. Bowels back to normal after 3 days. Major PAIN in my bellybutton incision is persisting, especially when I use any of my stomach muscles. I can now sit comfortably & can walk slowly.....tried to run after (bad) cat and about keeled over with pain in that same area. After reading posts, I'm going to see if bellybutton pain lessens in another week. If still persisting, I'm going back to the Doc to see if it's a hernia....it feels like a small ping-pong ball lump....not as painful as it was, but still keeps me from my yoga, swimming, tennis, etc., exercising regime that I'm used to. And yes, I still have that swelling in lower abdomen as well. Looking forward to wearing something besides sweat pants for comfort! Has anyone been to their Doc with these symptoms? If so, what did they say?
