I had surgery 13 weeks ago for a full tear of my right rotator cuff. Still in extreme pain and cannot lift my arm above the waist. They tell me I'll be fine but I have serious doubts now. I do pt 3 to 4 times a week.. Pain can really throw you out there but I'll keep fighting.
6 weeks ago for me - had the tendons reattached to the bone, which involved shaving part of the bone. Pain is unbearable (and i'm not a wimp - 3 kids - no drugs - last one was 10 lbs)- hate the drugs but don't know what to do...will see the doc in three days. Drug side effects are scaring me - they've changed them once but nothing seems to help unless it makes me goofy. what a choice.

This form sort of scares me. I have been in pain from Sept10(when I Had to stop working) until the present(Feb17). I haven't been given a date for my surgery yet and now I'm wondering if it will be worth it? I have been on endocet 5mg/325 two months now and it doesn't work real well. I wonder what it will be like after surgery? I have two tears in my rotator cuff .

I had rotator cuff, impengement, bone spur x 3 surgery in November. Two weeks ago my shoulder froze and I had to have a surgical manipulation which means my Dr. put me to sleep and tried to rip my arm out of the socket. That evening I noticed a red splotch on my bicep. Today I went for therapy and the red splotch is the size of my bicep. My Dr. says there is bleeding inside. Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

I had rotator cuff/Slap repair surgery done on Jan 29th, and I also get that catching pain when I try to lift my arm to shoulder level, even when I am doing only passive resistance exercises at PT.My range of motion is practically nil, and the pain is unbearable. I am truly sorry I ever had this surgery done. Even percocet and motrin does not do a thing for the pain.I am tired of the pain meds, thats all the Doctor wants to push on me!(probably does it to keep his patients quiet)lol. I know how you feel, so hang in there :-)

Hi guys,
i have had another appoitment with the surgen who is sending me for an urgent mri scan and i have to have that horrible contrast dye injected in to my shoulder, physio is all over the place i keep getting told to do different things and i dont kno which way to turn. I have been given some pain killers which are good and some antidepressents which i take befor bed, aparantly for neurotic pain, i feel like a fool and think they think its all in my head because im depressed (which im not) im only frustrated with the whole situation, and the pain i keep getting.
I get a strong catching feeling and it does in some positions feel unstable so another scan may prove its not actually fixed, if it is fixed then well i dont have a clue.
cheers

I too had rotator cuff repair and am miserable!! However, my Dr. did give me muscle relaxers to take with the pain med. at night. It has really helped me sleep better. Good Luck

I had Impingement surgery and a bone spur removed n 5/07. My shoulder is still swollen and my pain is getting worse. I am unable to lift my arm out to the side and in front of me. The only thing that helps is if i sit quietly and not move my arm it feels a little better but I can't live that way. Does anyone have any advise on what I can do to help the pain.

It depends on what you're having done. I had 3 of the 4 rotator cuff tendons repaired on 06/11. I had to wear the sling for a month and I still have bone pain but I've been told that's because I had the shoulder bone drilled to insert the two screws. If your repair is not as extensive your recovery will be quicker and less painful. It's still hard for me to get a good night's sleep.
Hi I have to have same thing done soon to my shoulder.Did you have a nerve block in your neck to numb your arm? then put you out? I have heard bad things about this nerve block and very scared..Can you let me know what it was like? thx take care Gleny

Oh I forgot I had the second surgery 1 week after the Hysterectomy. Which has left me with a 6 1/2 in deep opened incision that must be changed and re-dressed 2 times a day.

Ask for Ativan for sleep. I had surgery for full-thickness rotator cuff on March 18th, 2008. I still have trouble sleeping but Ativan has worked better than anything as it relaxes your muscles as well as makes you drowsy. I found sleeping in the sling difficult and my bicep ached, the Ativan (or Xanax) really helped. I hated the oxy-coden they gave me - too strong makes you zombie like. Ativan is the way to go at least at night.
