In my case I can tell everytime my iron is low. Under my wedding rings turns black. Of course they are real and only happens when my other symptoms appear. Has anyone else had this happen?

Haven't had that happen but when my anemia starts to be a problem I get an isatiable appetite for mints. When my husband sees me with a box of altoids he asks if I've been taking my iron pills.

I have never in my life had a hemoglobin/iron level of over 9.0, I have had it as low as 7.0 and have amazed some regular nurses who have told me that I am a walking zombie. I have had this all my life, not alot of testing has been done although I can tell many things that this could have been a result of. These are my symptons first off. Dizziness, feeling faint and that I will pass out at any given moment, weakness in hands and feet, headaches that result in vomiting and soon enough dehydration, memory loss and confusion, weird cravings or loss of apetite, upset stomach, sensitivity to heat and cold, body aches at times,extreme fatigue, when I lived on my own at about age 19, I went to sleep and didnt wake up for three days and only because family became concerned and started to look for me,I have no energy and most days cannot do anything at all but sit here, must sleep at least 13 hours to stay rested for the most part of the day and will have a short 30-60 minute nap, I can instantly fall asleep, even with sitting up and talking only seconds before, I have 20/20 vision but have difficulty seeing or focusing in the dark, sometimes have black lines or dots in my vision, also the blackness of my rings as you had described. When I feel that mine is starting to drop I can take a nickel and rub in on any part of my body mostly use my forehead or wrist, arms and hands because it seems to show most there near the veins. The line will be very dark if the symptons are worse, and lighter as they start to get better!
