How many hours depends on how much you drink and what the ETG cutoff is -- DUH.:)

Unlike BAC, the ETG test varies from person to person a lot, and men aren't any better than women on it.

Generally speaking, what to expect, playing it safe, with the timeline starting once you'd blow a .00 BAC:

1-2 beers:~24 hours
3-5 beers:~36 hours
6-8 beers:~48 hours
9-12 beers:~60 hours
Got Hammered: 72 hours

Some people can get wasted after they're 100% sober, pass a standard 500ng ETG test between 36-48 hours. Not unheard of at all. Some people produce a lot of ETGs that sticks to their bladder and need 60-72 hours even with just having a few beers.

Exercise (sweat) helps disperse the ETGs away [from bladder], and also drinking lots of fluids helps speed up the process.

Always count by *HOURS*, not days! None of this "I drank on Monday, am I fine on Thursday"! Way too vague!

Drinking on Monday, saying ending at midnight on Mon/Tues... and having a test on Thursday morning at 9AM....

That's 12AM Tues->12AM Wed->12AM Thurs = 48 hours + 9 hours = 56 hours. If you got wasted, you could fail. Especially if it's a 100ng ETG test, not a 500ng. If you just had a few beers after dinner later at night -- you should be alright.

I would like to ask a question. If I drank 3 shots Wednesday over 5 hours, 8 shots Thursday over 18 hours and 9 shots Friday over 20 hours stopping at 3am Friday/Saturday. Nothing since. I am supposed to test at 6 pm this evening, Monday. That is 62 hours since I would have blown zeroes. According to your timeline, 60 hours would be possibly enough, but it doesn't take into account the previous days. Or the amount of time between drinks. I don't usually drink at all but fell off for the holiday. Any thoughts?

This is clearly a late response, but for future readers:(also i hope your test went well), you want to base it off of your last shot. The fact that you had been drinking for a few days consecutively, you would want to make sure you had the 80+ hours. If the test was a 500ng, it all depends. You're going to want to drink lots of water and coffee, dilute it, and hope for the best.

I haven't drank in over 14 months and I had a very high positive UA for alcohol. I am in a court program and don't know how to prove a false positive or if my PO or the judge will even believe me enough to investigate. Could an extreme change in diet or certain foods cause a false positive?

Extremely sure. I bet my daughter's virginity on it. You can read obvious literature. Your concern is of no worry. My listings there are relatively conservative.
you want to base it off of your last shot.
I think it's safe to go by once you'd blow .00 BAC. Which, anyone can pick up a pocket one at their disposal if they're scared (and estimate by that scale too to make sure the mini-BAC is on target). Too many people judge it on when they had their last drink -- which skews things.

80 hours isn't necessary, but yes, safe, for drinking for 3 days straight. If they were getting butt-freaking-wasted (not just having a few beers each of those days)-- then I agree to go by the lengthy 72 or 80 hour rule.

If they tested for alcohol and it wasn't an ETG -- you wouldn't necessarily have a DRINK but do something dumb at the wrong wrong time right before (mouthwash). Or have stomach issues, as we do produce alcohol, but that's a super rarity.

Either way, you can get a hair test done. It tests the ETGs (by-product of alcohol) in your hair that accumulate. EXPENSIVE. But many communities will pay for it if it proves your innocence, but you pay for it if it proves you guilty.

For ETGs especially, there can be false positives on standard ultra-sensitive tests. Nowadays it's not very often. You'd need some real digestive problems to do that. Or a REAL old test where bacteria in your bladder produce ETGs or something, but more modern tests won't produce that false positive.
What about jack Daniels barbecue sauce?
Pretty much nothing.

Look at their site: "JACK DANIEL'SŪ EZ MARINADER, BARBECUE SAUCES AND STEAK SAUCES DO NOT CONTAIN ALCOHOL"

Even *IF* they had trace amounts like O'Douls (.042% on average)-- having a couple spoonfuls of O'Douls would be gone very very quickly. O'Douls is 1/10th a Miller Lite. And 1/10th as a sauce on a burger would be 1/10th of 1/10th of a lite beer. You'd have to TRY to make it show positive.:)

What if I had 8 drinks Saturday until about 4am. Got tested 10am weds. I drank a gal of water each day in between and worked out each day as well. What are the chances I passed? I calculate about 76hrs from last drink to test.

Again, read all my ramblings.:) You'd be solid without worries at anything over 60 hours off 12 beer-level drinks and drinking tons of water each day and working out each day.

You'll be fine. But don't let the comfortability get to you. Being a Little nervous is good. It makes you chug that water, jog those blocks (sweat in working out is the key btw), and most importantly not let yourself slip into getting too comfortable and making mistakes.

I will never make the mistake of chancing it again... just dumb on my part. But thanks for the reply, appreciate the feedback! I get my result the 17th/ meet with my P.O. This is my first tine ever on probation.. just scary in general. Have a good day/week.

If you meet with your PO to get results on the 17th, as most likely in every place -- you have nothing to worry about. In most places, they have your results within hours or 24 hours. PO's are alerted. They know SOON.

Since I'm new to this, if it came back positive for alcohol in 24 hours and my PO knows, what would happen? Do they come arrest me? Call me? Warrant? Or do they wait to tell me until we meet on the 17th. Thanks for answering my questions. This is all so new to me

No, they won't come and arrest you or have a warrant. You'll basically have a meeting with your PO who's po'd at you and question you about it. Sometimes if you're diluted (which is treated as a positive, indirectly), your PO may not tell you until you sit down with him on the next visit, and he may say "Do it again." I had that happen. It usually means you're not the one they're looking at and see you as harmless.

But normally, your PO will be pissed and up your penalty on your DUI and make you go before a judge to validate an added penalty. SOMETIMES a PO will just b!tch you out and give you a pass.
