Hey, I had a question. I been on Adderall for 3 years, I stopped it recently for a few months and then started it again. for a little while I had such side effects as a rapid heart beat, slightly blurred vision, some chest discomfort and headaches.
But those things went away. I don't really have a rapid heart beat, I sometime get a minor head ache, slight, but very slight, blurry vision, and I also now get some reddness on my cheeks and lightly on my arms. I also at time, not all the time, but at times get a burning sensation in my throat. nothing seems major, these side effects go away rather quickly, but I'm just wondering, is this life threatening??? the adderall works really well otherwise. I am not to sure it is even blurred vision but sort of out of focus, the kind of thing were you could be looking at an object but not focused on it. |

Yes, me too. I really want to know why it might cause changes in vision. I would of thought high blood pressure, but my blood pressure is completely fine.

I am not qualified to make any medical diagnosis or suggestions on medication. I would recommend you discuss these symptoms with your physician.

lets see now,(sorry bad start) I’ve been on adreall for about 1.5 years the blurry vision dose not go away, the pounding chest/rapid heartbeat will go away, most of my side affects have gone away. I find that if I eat regularly things work okay. But here’s one for you, I have a wiggly toe thing, my big toe wiggles against the toe next to it to the point of getting calluses, okay not the nicest thing to think about I know, but the wiggly toe thing started almost immediately and has never gone away. And the other person is right if something is bothering you then GO SEE YOUR DR!! Or your shrink, which ever

it is because of the dilation of the pupil. it can cause changes in the vision, especially if you wear contacts or glasses. I had the same problem. After long term use of adderall, I had to go get my prescription changed because since I started adderall my vision decreased 20%. in 1 year. Amazing huh. ANd I had unbelievable headaches from straining to see. Getting my prescription changed for my contacts made my headaches go away until about 6 months later when they returned. After returning back to the eye doctor, my vision had once again gotten worse. The doctors advised me to get off of the adderall, because to me,my vision is more important.

Adderal was prescribed for my (then) 12 year old son about 2 years ago and slowly but consistently, it made him angrier and more out of control. It got to the point that he was destroying doors hiding kitchen knives. When we finally realized the adderall had this type of side effect, we discontinued the use. Later my son indicated to us that it not only helped fuel anger he had but it made him "not care".
moral: Be very careful of this drug. |

I'm having the same problem. Adderall can cause glaucoma, which is some type of high blood pressure in (forget the name of the part) of your eyes. What I find curious is that sometimes I have blurred vision and sometimes I don't. This makes me think there have to be something that I'm doing that prevent it from happening. If anyone knows the answer Please Help.

I've been taking adderall for over a year. For about the period of time I;ve had really tight chest, and increased mucus production. Iv taken antibiotics and had chest xrays and it doesnt seem to do anything.
I was taking the 30 mg for most of that time. I found that aorund 6pm my eyes started aching in behind and i would feel sooo tired, but then it would pass. I stopped taking pills a couple weeks ago for a couple days, then only took little bits. Today I took a 30mg again and i've had the most awful migranes all day. And the eye pain came back. One of the major benefits of adderall is my stabalized eating habits. Before meds, i would binge and purge for stimulation (i was naturally thin, and never understood why I did it until my ADHD was diagnosed at 18). When i stopped takin the meds just for two days, I found urges to repeat my old behaviour. I found this really strange as I am very self-confident and not into image. It made me wonder if perhaps bulimia is a symptom of ADHD? I never understood why I did it, and after receiving treatment for ADHD, my 5 years of disordered eating just went away... |

Recently I've been having extremely blurred vision in my left eye. The only way I can think to describe it is a 'fish bowl' effect. I've been taking Adderall for 8+ years. I have always had the side effect of dry eyes, dry mouth, increased urination, etc. I believe these symptoms have to do with the dehydration I experience while taking Adderall -- which explains many of the side effects listed above for others. I plan to seek out an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist immediately to remedy this effect. I will post the results when I know more…

Judged: 1 I want to know if other ADD medications (Concerta, Ritalin, etc) also have a negative affect on vision??! Maybe switching medications would be a solution? |

I was wondering if you what the Optometrist said, and if you are still taking the medication.

Judged: 1 1 Adderall is an amphetamine, and amphetamines cause blurry vision. Don't expect that side effect to ever go away, as long as Adderall is in your bloodstream. You might experience different levels of blurry vision on different days, and at different times; this indicates different levels of Adderall in your bloodstream at different times. Somebody mentioned dilation of pupils being the reason for blurriness--yes, amphetamines block your eyes' ability to focus, but it's not because of the dilated pupils. Our pupils dilate naturally, throughout the day, and at different types of lights, but do not necessarily cause blurry vision. In fact, even on Adderall, there are times when you'll have constricted pupils, and yet you will still have blurry vision. |
