More and more claims against DePuy keep rolling in over the their recalled hip implants. New statistical data shows that the defective products may be worse than previously reported.

Hi James! It's significantly worse. The two DePuy systems are shown to fail in 49% of patients within 6 years. Thousands of recipients will require painful corrective surgery of these defective devices. More alarming are the increasing complaints of DePuy's Pinnacle metal-on-metal device which will potentially lead to more lawsuits. More information can be found at

Hope this helps ^_^

This is an enormous problem. The rate of revision surgery continues to be, well...revised...upward. The recent story suggesting a 49% failure rate is not surprising to me at all. My firm has been receiving a steady stream of calls related to DePuy ASR system problems. We'll continue to evaluate and file these cases. Call (888) 633-5204 for a free consultation. Our offices are in Atlanta, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama, but we're taking cases nationwide. You can also visit our website and blog to stay up to speed on this litigation.

The recalled ASR hip replacement implants by DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. were said to cause complications such as metallosis and experience premature device failures such as loosening and dislocation. With the issuance of the DePuy hip recall, patients who suffered from the device can have a huge sigh of relief.

My grandmother had a defective implant installed in 2006 that failed in 2008. The replacement implant failed again the next year.

I've sought legal representation from and we're currently working out our options. She would have never known how to find help without us finding the information for her, so I'm trying to spread the word for everyone.

Last AugustT, the US Food and Drug Admnistration (FDA) had received about 5,000 complaints on metal-on-metal hip replacements. And this number continues to rise as more and more patients have filed lawsuits against the manufacturers of these defective hip implants as I've read ont his website . Nearly 4,000 of the complaints involved the implants manufactured by the DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. which has already recalled its devices in August of 2010.

This is no longer just 50. Court documents showed that nearly 20 DePuy ASR hip implants are filed everyday. In its third quarterly earnings report, Johnson & Johnson, DePuy's mother company, also said there are approximately 3,500 pending ASR hip implant lawsuits following the DePuy hip replacement recall as of October 2011. This website provides for an interesting read regarding the DePuy ASR lawsuits.

This is really a very tragic incident wherein several patients are experiencing pain and swelling of nerve and muscle tissue, bone damage, difficulty walking and blood poisoning, caused by fragmented pieces of metal. The recall of the product in 2010 was a good move by DePuy Orthopedic. To know more about the recall, one may visit

It is true that numbers patients that have experienced hip implant failure are coming in. This is evident with the thousands of pending lawsuits that are waiting to be tried. A lot of patients who have undergone hip replacement surgery with recalled hip implants are complaining that implants are showing signs of failure at the early years after the surgery although it has been said that implants last 15 to 25 years utmost.
