I know this is late but the question wasn't answered....just in case someone else wants to know: Well, it depends on what type of Indian you're talking about. An American Indian or an India's Indian?? My fiance is Indian and black, but his dad was from India. Like Americans, you have Indians with either black or white skin. With that being said, he has brown skin with really thick eyebrows (almost a unibrow)and thick, curly hair. Additionally, my grandmother's dad was White and "American" Indian and her mother was black. She and all of her siblings have light-colored skin and thick hair, which was taken from their mother's side.

No it isnt coolie coolie is racial slur for indians in the west indies or africa or india whever they were indentured servants or slaves. Today the term isnt used with it's harsh connotation but can fall in lines with the n word or any other racial slur. Dougla is the term (pardon my spelling of it) that is used to described half black half indian most so commonly used in the west indies. From what I do know it means bastard http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dougla
I myself come from a mix background but celebrities i believe who are mixed is Tatyana Ali Stacy Dash Even Nicki Manji to name a few. I believe chilli from gropu TLC is as well. But a lot of spanish islanders would fall under that category as well.

actually... they might come out any how... genes aren't just determined on your parents... but also your great great great great and so on grandparents if there genes decided to be dominant... there for if your great great great great grandmother was a red head then your baby could come out a red head. even if and light skinned.

No one can actually tell how your baby is going to come out. You could both be black parents and your child might come out white. It's not us to determine how it would look.

However, that doesn't mean it isn't going to come out like you guys. maybe dark skin, could be light skin, maybe dark brown, maybe light brown, maybe black. maybe brown eyes maybe blue eyes maybe green eyes. maybe large nose, maybe flat nose maybe big nose. who knows? no one... until your baby is finally born

On our island in the west indies we dont use it as a racial slur it just means you have indian blood in you. Racism on our island doesnt exist maybe hundreds of years ago but its more about social status then race

passingby dont source Wikipedia for information...on our island in the west indies there is no such thing as racism maybe a hundred years ago.Its more of a social status how much money you have in your pocket. Coolie is not in the same line as the word N**a or n****r. the N word is still harsh no matter how you use or spell it. Coolie just means your a decedent or come from India doesnt for us it has no harsh definition.

Cherryxoxo, you are partially right on some islands such as Jamaica coolie is not a bad word, and Jamaicans tend to be more status oriented even though the "brownings" do have the upper hand. However on islands such as Trinidad it is a racial slur. In fact I think the word was outlawed there years ago. People of Indian and black descent in Jamaica actually take pride in being identified as a coolie.

The correct term to use is of Indian and African descent not black. This mix has been in place for centuries in Asia, Africa and the West Indies.

Omg haha I googled half black half Indian and found this topic. I'm half indian half caribbean. There's a lot of us in the West Indies.

As for what your baby will look like, impossible to tell. I look exactly like my black father, with a large rounded nose, small eyes and thick lips, whereas my brother is completely the opposite. I look Indian with my light skin and he looks Mexican with his pointed features and dark skin.

It's typical for us to be very skinny - never met a fat dougla! So that's one good thing! haha

My boyfriend is indian (from the country of India) I tried looking through google to see what our baby would look like. I'm medium light brown, with sandy brown hair, 5;3. He has curly dark brown hair, 5;7 and more like a olive medium light brown (kinda faded almost). Does anybody know or think they know what our child would look like?
