Your car every .8 of a mile puts out 162 million cigarettes of carbon monoxide, 1.2 billion cigarettes nitrogen oxide.The EPA allows 700 times the arsenic or 165,000 cigarettes in one glass of drinking water.
If SHS is so bad have some one go in a smoke filled closet,you go in your garage(closed) with your car running and after 20 minutes see who comes out alive. It will not be you ,you will be dead.The guy in the closet will be ok.

Why should they hire a smoker if they don't have to? They are a burden to the company insurance and they stink. And this garbage where they can go outside and smoke is an excuse to steal time from their employer.No different than going outside and shoveing a spike in your arm.A drug addict is a drug addict.Can I go outside every hour for ten minutes???? And worst of all most workplace A holes are usually smokers which I think is a spill over from the teenage mentality and rebelion that started them on there drug habit.I say don't hire them.

I can remember when companies prefer smokers they were the better workers.I was hired at one place because i smoked an was from texas.That was the only people they would hire because the never got a bad employee.New management(non-smokers) came in changed every thing and in 3 months they went out of business.Seen that twice.Worked for a company of 200,000+ and the people who were out sick most of the time was non-smokers.Yes they go outside they are not allowed to work when they smoke.

However if we continue to tax people unfairly and allow it. The taxes will move to another product. Alcohol maybe? Once they’ve over worked that then maybe aspirin.. Its all on some thing people choice to use not have to use.. A luxury…
Do people understand that caffeine is a drug too? What about all those coffee drinkers who line up at the Coffee shop in the morning?
They are feeding speed to their body. So what is the difference? Granted, coffee is not as bad as cigarettes. But caffeine can have long term effects as well. So, Maybe some can quit cigarettes, maybe other people can quit their "joe."
Obesity does not only cost the person ill health, but puts greater demand on other people to foot their medical costs. Obesity costs tax payers, employers and individuals more, and causes sufferers to take more time of work, retire earlier on a disability pension and be less productive in the workplace, resulting in greater discrepancies on funding allocations.

And to say Non of these things effect some one else if you do them like smoking does.. They all affect us in some way.. Just like our cars, the trash we put out, hair spray.. ect ect..

I’m not for smoking! But I am for the rights for some to smoke. But with out being over taxed..

To all of you who are against smokers, if you read at all you will see that some of the posts are true! Our drinking water IS bad also. Every pill that is taken gets dumped ion our water, the resivoir does not get completely cleaned, hence, we are consuming every medication that is taken in our water. Do you see people walking around high because of this, NO!!!!!!
Second, if we smokers choose to smoke, that is our business. If you don't like the smell, move away from us. It is a free country.
And I agree, the gov't should raise the price of alcohol, I'll bet that all you high income people drink more than the low income people do.
Look at the lawyers and judges, you can find them almost everyday in a pub or on a bar stool!
These are the people that run our courts.
You all need to stop the bickering and let the smokers do as they want with their bodies!!
