It never ends, the men who are so sure they know what women need.

Unfortunately, we only know about the genes that have been found, and we only have a test for the BRCA genes. I don't need a BRCA test to tell me it's genetic in my family: I'm the fourth generation in a direct line to have breast cancer. I seriously considered a double mastectomy myself although no medical person recommended it. That's fine for them, but they aren't the ones who have to live with the KNOWLEDGE that my breasts 1) do nothing to support life and 2) are ticking time bombs.

You can't have your liver removed to protect yourself if you're at high risk for liver cancer. You can live, and well, without breasts. My surgeon tried to insist on a lumpectomy but I preferred mastectomy. My life, MY choice.

Get the heck out of our lives. Give us the best advice you have but then let us decide.
